With it being baby season here in the Basin just another heads up about wildlife. Fawns instinctively drop to the ground and freeze when frightened. They have been known to do this on the pavement right in front of an oncoming car. If you find this scenario know that mom is likely just out of sight and nearby. This is NOT an orphan, do NOT remove it from the area. Try just turning off your engine and waiting quietly for the little one to move on OR mom to come retrieve it. If mom is still not obvious and the fawn won't budge, you can move the baby safely off the road. Its crying will bring mom to its rescue. But be aware that a protective mother deer can attack.
