Santa Maria Animal Center / Lompoc Foster Page This page highlights animals needing foster care and those ready for adoption from the Santa Maria A This is your opportunity to get involved.

Every year hundreds of kittens enter the Santa Maria Animal Center. At times, we also have a need for nursing dogs and cats with kittens, under aged puppies, adult animals, and injured animals to find foster homes. Even with the help of dedicated foster homes, we struggle to find enough homes to care for the numbers we see. We will post a photo and description of the animal(s) in need of foster ca

re. If you are in a position to assist, you will need to contact the shelter or number listed for each post. Even if you just foster one litter, you are saving lives. All supplies and support are provided. Foster parents do need to isolate fosters for 10-14 days or the entire time they are in the home. Foster parents must be able to transport the foster animals to and from the shelter for check ups and medical needs. All foster animals, unless transferred to a rescue group, will remain the property of Santa Barbara County Animal Services and must be brought into the shelter for treatment, alteration, and adoption.

Are you ready to save some lives?
Ever thought about becoming a foster parent for Animal Services and what it was you could do to help care for the tiny kittens, puppies and bunnies that come into our county shelter with no mama or human to care for them?
The littlest ones that are dropped off under 8 weeks old who are often hungry and cold need to go into a foster home as the shelter environment is just not a safe or secure place for them to live. Some of these kittens, puppies and bunnies need volunteers that are able to step in to syringe/bottle feed them, which is a specialized training that will be offered in another class. These animals will not survive without human intervention.

We also need foster families and individuals who are willing to care for a cat or dog that is recovering from an injury, surgery or an illness.
Often these animal will need crate rest and some TLC.

At this class, we will talk about what you need, supplies that are always helpful to have, what our county shelters provide, necessary appointments, commitment needed, concerns you may have, what is normal, when and who to call for emergency assistance.

Join us for our upcoming foster orientation and first training class to learn all about our amazing program.
Our last class for the 2025 year is Saturday, Dec. 13th

💗 UPDATE! Aries has been ADOPTED!

🌟 FOSTER NEEDED FOR ARIES 🌟
Neutered Male • Mastiff Mix • 1 Year Old • ~74.6 lbs
Meet Aries, a stunning cream-and-black Mastiff mix with a heart full of sweetness… and a whole lot of fear right now. 💔 This gentle boy is only 1 year old, and the shelter environment is overwhelming for him. Despite his size, he’s incredibly soft-natured and just wants to feel safe.
Aries has shown us that he wants to trust—he just needs a calm, patient place to decompress. A short holiday break in a loving foster home would make a world of difference. It would give him the chance to come out of his shell, learn that he’s safe, and help us understand his personality so we can set him up for the best future possible.
🏡 What Aries Needs:
• A quiet home to relax and decompress
• Patience, kindness, and gentle reassurance
• A soft spot to rest his big, beautiful head
• Someone willing to give him a temporary break from the shelter
If you can open your home—and your heart—to this sweet, scared boy, you’ll be helping him more than you know.
✨ Please consider fostering Aries for the holidays.
Your kindness could change his life. 💛
Send us a message here or email us at [email protected]
