Santa Maria Animal Center / Lompoc Foster Page

Santa Maria Animal Center / Lompoc Foster Page This page highlights animals needing foster care and those ready for adoption from the Santa Maria A This is your opportunity to get involved.

Every year hundreds of kittens enter the Santa Maria Animal Center. At times, we also have a need for nursing dogs and cats with kittens, under aged puppies, adult animals, and injured animals to find foster homes. Even with the help of dedicated foster homes, we struggle to find enough homes to care for the numbers we see. We will post a photo and description of the animal(s) in need of foster ca

re. If you are in a position to assist, you will need to contact the shelter or number listed for each post. Even if you just foster one litter, you are saving lives. All supplies and support are provided. Foster parents do need to isolate fosters for 10-14 days or the entire time they are in the home. Foster parents must be able to transport the foster animals to and from the shelter for check ups and medical needs. All foster animals, unless transferred to a rescue group, will remain the property of Santa Barbara County Animal Services and must be brought into the shelter for treatment, alteration, and adoption.

Santa Barbara County Animal Services is offering a Syringe / Bottle Feeding Class that is open to the public. This is a beginning / basic class that will teach you how to safely care for and feed a tiny neonate under 3 weeks old that you may find.
This class would be perfect for the foster parent or TNR volunteer who would like to learn how to safely syringe and /or bottle feed the little one in their care, even if little one is only with you temporarily until help can be reached to take over. This class will help you feel more confident to possibly take that step to become a specialized foster for Animal Services and/or the Rescue you volunteer for. You will learn the importance of when it is safe to feed a neonate and why the little one must be warmed up first before feeding. The tools you will need to help you be more successful and bottom line save a life.
Currently classes are scheduled for the Santa Maria Animal Center in the Education Room. Address: 548 W. Foster Rd. In Santa Maria.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Jordonna whose information is on the flyer.

Are you ready to save some lives?
Ever thought about becoming a foster parent for Animal Services and what it was you could do to help care for the tiny kittens, puppies and bunnies that come into our county shelter with no mama or human to care for them?
The littlest ones that are dropped off under 8 weeks old who are often hungry and cold need to go into a foster home as the shelter environment is just not a safe or secure place for them to live. Some of these kittens, puppies and bunnies need volunteers that are able to step in to syringe/bottle feed them, which is a specialized training that will be offered in another class. These animals will not survive without human intervention.

We also need foster families and individuals who are willing to care for a cat or dog that is recovering from an injury, surgery or an illness.
Often these animal will need crate rest and some TLC.

At this class, we will talk about what you need, supplies that are always helpful to have, what our county shelters provide, necessary appointments, commitment needed, concerns you may have, what is normal, when and who to call for emergency assistance.

Join us for our upcoming foster orientation and first training class to learn all about our amazing program.
Our first class offered is Friday October 17th from 1pm - 2:30pm
**only 1 class is needed to get you started**
All classes are FREE and open to the public and all interested in fostering for the Santa Maria Animal Center and Lompoc Animal Shelter.
Another orientation to our program will be Sunday, Nov. 16th and Saturday, Dec. 13th
Please secure your seat by sending a RSVP email to [email protected]
Help us continue to make a difference in the lives of shelter animals who are in serious need of a foster family or individual willing to say yes to caring for them.
Foster parenting really is all about love and saving lives.

UPDATE: ♥️ Bonded Siblings! ADOPTED TOGETHER!♥️

〰️🔸〰️ UPDATE: Going on the Adoption Floor 〰️🔸〰️
Come meet Rascal and Rowdy 💗 Two sweet loving brothers who have been raised in a home with a toddler and a couple of kitten-friendly dogs.
They are such accepting kittens and are pretty chill and laid back, except when it’s time for play. Rascal even thinks the hand vacuum is fun to attack with his paws and Rowdy observes and appears to cheer him on.

These sweet boys arrived to our shelter just a week old days back on August 8th… We believe they were born on 7/30/2025. Their eyes were just beginning to open. Their experiences early on has been the humans they saw loving and caring for them and the toddler at their enclosure that plays with them. Due to these early experiences, these are very loving and responsive kittens.

Rascal and Rowdy are affectionate boys that love to be held, kissed, cuddled and are extremely responsive. They are very playful kittens that are fun to watch as they practice their ninja and hopping moves. Not only do they love to play with each other but they aren’t selective with toys either. They love playing with empty boxes and packing paper as well. Whoever adopts will have a tremendous amount of love and daily entertainment.
They are both litter box trained and are ready to be forever house kittens.
Our hope is that they can be adopted together

🥰 Cuties!!! Alert!!!
Available Thursday Afternoon, Oct 2

Meet Phoenix, Prince and Percy 💗
All three boys are litter box trained, and love to be held and play with each other. They all love toys, especially bell balls and springs.

Individually speaking….. Let’s talk about their personalities!

**Adopted** Phoenix (A547613) is a sweet boy who is a bit more reserved than his brothers, but he plays hard when he decides to join the fun! He is very sweet, and will definitely climb in your lap when you aren’t looking.

Prince (A547611) is the leader of the three. He has no concept of personal space, and he might think he’s a parrot since he loves to sit on your shoulder! He never skips an opportunity to wrestle and he loves to nap in a lap.

**Adopted** Percy (A547612) is a big old sweetheart. He loves to cuddle and loves pets, and he will let you know when he thinks he needs more! He is silly and loves to chase toys and show you his belly.

Bonded Sibling Alert!
***💗*** Ready for Adoption - Accepting Applications now!

Meet Rascal and Rowdy
Beautiful 8 week old kittens that have been with a loving foster family since they were just 2 days old!
💜 Their foster parents describe them as super affectionate, cuddly, playful well rounded kittens. These are extremely loving kittens that crave love, attention and playtime. ***check out their video in the comment section**
These brothers are bonded and would love to be chosen together to live forever with a family that will adore them.
Rascal and Rowdy have no issues wanting to reach out and play with the family, cat-friendly Husky and they have no issues with the handheld vacuum. Rascal thinks it’s a game and tries to tackle the Bissell. They seem to enjoy the toddler in the home and have shown no fear when she is vocally happy or not. Rascal and Rowdy seem like they will be wonder house cats for anyone looking for loving felines.
They are both litter box trained.
