Golden oyster mushrooms are invading Michigan forests — and it’s not good news.

Bright yellow and nutty-flavored, these mushrooms started as a DIY grow-kit favorite. Now they’re spreading in the wild, crowding out native fungi that are vital for forest health — and even medicine discovery.
