Miss Theia has been out on the trails both solo and with company, and no matter her position—leading, following, or somewhere in between—she moves with calm confidence. Her walk is relaxed yet purposeful, and she takes in the world with gentle curiosity. Blustering wind, barking dogs, passing cars, even the occasional donkey—nothing seems to rattle her. When she does encounter something unfamiliar, she doesn’t spook or bolt—she pauses, checks in with her rider, and then calmly moves forward. That kind of trust is rare, and it's what makes time with her so deeply peaceful and rewarding.

We've had the privilege of seeing many horses come through Tough Luck Trio, and Theia stands out as one of the steadiest and most sincere we've met. She’s also showing willingness in the arena and is learning quickly—right now, we’re working on her picking up her feet more consistently, and she's responding beautifully. It’s honestly incredible to witness how far she’s come in such a short time. A little weight, a lot of love, and this mare is blooming before our eyes.

Theia is a 20-year-old, 15hh gray mare with a gentle heart and a quiet strength. She came to us from a tough situation out of Bowie, TX—thin, tired, and in need of a second chance. Since then, she’s been slowly and steadily gaining weight, healing with every bite of hay and every kind word.

We don’t know what her past held, but we can tell you this: Theia *loves* the trail. She’s the kind of horse who wants to take you out to enjoy the peace of a slow ride through nature. She doesn’t spook, doesn’t bolt—just calmly moves forward with her sweet, easygoing personality. She’s been riding well in a hackamore and is learning to neck rein.

Yes, she has a little hitch in her giddy-up, but it doesn’t seem to bother her—and it sure doesn’t slow her down when it comes to loving life and hitting the trail. She’s barefoot, an easy keeper, and recently had her teeth floated. She stands tied, is great for the farrier, and carries an old brand we haven’t yet identified—just another piece of her mystery.

Theia isn’t looking for a show ring or long hard rides. She’s looking for someone who wants a kind-hearted partner to enjoy the little things with—sunsets, quiet moments, and the joy of a horse who still has so much love to give.

She deserves a home that will treasure her golden years with kindness and care.

🐴🍪 **Meet Cookie – The Newest Member of Tough Luck Trio!** 🍪🐴

She’s sweet, she’s sassy, and she’s got a *big* appetite... for trail rides AND cookies! 😆 🍪 Cookie has been excelling in training! She has a beautifully smooth trot and lope, and her intelligence shines through as she picks up cues. We've taken her out on trails, and she's a steady, reliable companion—nothing seems to phase her. If something does catch her attention, she simply stops and observes.

Cookie would be an excellent choice for a husband looking to ride with the family or for a rider with children. With more whoa than go, this easy-keeping mare would be a wonderful addition to your family or a loyal companion for someone who enjoys trail rides and sunsets. She’s also quite capable in the arena!

Cookie is barefoot and approximately 20 years old. She was rescued several years ago from Northern Texas by a family. As the kids grew older and went their separate ways, Cookie was left without anyone to ride her. She’s far too talented to just sit idle—she deserves a loving home where she can be appreciated and enjoyed.

If you're looking for a horse that can handle the *real* tough stuff (like snack time) and still be a rock star on the trails, Cookie could be a great option for you! 🥰

Don't judge Cookie by the photos! Cindy was riding and I had to take the pictures by myself before we lost daylight - but the silver lining is..she will stay ground tied - though she keeps looking for bits of food on the ground! 😆

Coming Soon! Miss Thea! Gorgeous grade mare from Bowie Texas. She came in underweight, nervous, and in need of some TLC. She has just had her feet and teeth done and is gaining some weight and slowly getting into shape. This gal is very sweet and currently going well at the walk and trot in the arena ( building up to lope) and did fantastic on her first outing on the trail all by herself with dogs and scary things. He has been trying his hand as a lesson horse and has been doing well but is not quite forward enough for their more advanced students so he is still looking for his perfect partner!
He is a big guy at 15.2 hands could easily go English or over some jumps?!
