Update: Baby “B” (Blind Ambition) was such a good girl for her tests yesterday and we are so happy and relieved she had a positive or normal results on the testing done on her eyes. Most importantly the ERG (electroretinogram) was good and she is a go for surgery on Thursday morning. She will have bloodwork and ultrasounds done today on her eyes and lungs to make sure all is good in the back of her eyes and no lung issues prior to anesthesia. So grateful this amazing little girl will get the opportunity to see through those gorgeous blue eyes. Tomorrow will change her life and future forever and is the beginning to so many possibilities! Thank you to all of the incredibly generous people who have donated to help make this possible for “B”. We are still fundraising as the costs associated with this surgery are more than the 10,000 initially anticipated. The surgery required a deposit of 12,500 and estimated possible cost of up to 15,600 with 4 weeks of medical aftercare. This does not include what has been spent for initial testing in agua dulce and somis to diagnose and transport to and from her appointments there and Davis.
Doctors have indicated the aftercare is most vital to the success of her regaining sight and she will be on several medications, and drops and ointments that will need applying up to 8 times a day. Because most if any complications are incurred in the aftercare, she will remain layed up in davis for her first 4 weeks of recovery.
Thank you again to all who have donated and help get us this far. We still have a long way to go and are short of reaching our initial goal which as it turns out will be singnificantly short of what is actually needed to get her through the surgery, recovery, home and healed.
