We are OPEN on SATURDAYS again! Woo-hoo!! Monday-Saturday 8am-5pm
🌾🌾With spring and summer quickly approaching, foxtail season is also upon us. For our pet parents, we are here to help!
Here are a few tips in keeping your fur children safe during this season:
* Get rid of any foxtails in your yard.
* When on walks, keep track of your pets steps. Try to avoid overgrown areas.
* After walks, examine their coats. Important areas to look after: feet, ears, eyes, nose, groin.
* For longer coats, regular grooming appointments are important and at home brushing is important!
* Know when to call us! Signs of possible foxtails are: excessive licking, head shaking, squinting of the eyes, sneezing or nasal discharge. Avoiding seeking medical attention can lead to severe infections.
Wait... What day is it?!
Just a friendly reminder that we are temporarily closed Saturdays! We will be back open Monday at 8am.
If you have a medical emergency, please contact the local emergency animal hospitals.
Advanced Veterinary Specialists or VCA CARE.
All of our locations are still open and here to help you with your new kittens and puppies! Not only do we love seeing them, we will make sure to give you all the “need to know” information to guarantee a healthy and enjoyable start to the most amazing life!
WE ARE STILL OPEN!
COVID-19 Update at San Roque Pet Hospital.
Thank you for your support in these uncertain times. In an effort to still offer quality care while maintaining the health and wellbeing of our staff, we will be operating on a ‘Curbside’ and Telemedicine basis at this time. We will make every effort to continue offering all services and maintaining our normally scheduled appointments, but our lobby is temporarily closed.
How will "Curbside service" work?
1) To make an appointment please call us. 805 682-2647. We will then triage over the phone and make an appointment for you or ask if you would prefer telemedicine services.
2) If you have a scheduled appointment, here are some questions we may need your help in answering. Please email any information that is applicable:
- what is the primary reason for your visit?
- how long have the symptoms been going on?
- are there any other pets in the household affected?
- did any diet change/medication administration precipitate the concerning behavior?
- any vomiting or diarrhea?
- any coughing or sneezing?
- any change in activity level?
- any change in food or water intake?
3) On the day of your appointment:
Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to the appointment time and park near the entrance.
PLEASE REMAIN IN OR NEAR YOUR CAR.
CALL US TO TELL US YOU HAVE ARRIVED.
ALL DOGS MUST HAVE AN APPROPRIATELY ATTACHED LEASH/COLLAR/HARNESS AND ALL CATS AND OTHER PETS MUST BE IN CARRIERS. WE MAY ATTACH A SECOND SLIP LEASH AS A SAFETY MEASURE.
A vet assistant will meet you at the curb after you unload your pet to bring him/her inside.
If your appointment is for wellness (vaccines, routine labs, injections, etc.) please remain nearby as we will make every effort to complete services within 30 minutes.
Your pet’s medical team will call you to address all your concerns.
For sick pets, your pet’s medical team will call to discuss a diagnostic and treatment plan after the exam and assessment.
We will call you prior to returning your pet to you to collect payment via credit a card over the phone and then return your pet to you.
Drop-offs also available!
We can accommodate drop off appointments for all of your veterinary needs including surgery, dental cleanings, bathing, vaccinations, diagnostic testing, illness visits, etc.
How will Telemedicine Work?
Email/video/picture consultations and associated prescription medications may be available for established clients if we have seen your pet for a physical exam WITHIN THE PAST 12 MONTHS.
We can accommodate certain types of assessments, particularly ongoing conditions, but cannot guarantee this avenue for all patients. An in-person physical exam yields much more information to our doctors and team members.
For NON-URGENT questions, email us at [email protected] if you have pictures, videos, or would like to request a telemedicine (phone) consultation with a veterinary technician or doctor. Please allow 1-2 business days for a reply.
**A fee will apply for Telemedicine consultations.
Urgent/Emergency Cases:
If you have a pet emergency or urgent concern, please call us directly at (805) 682-2647 during normal office hours or Advanced Veterinary Services at (805) 729-4460 or VCA CARE at (805) 899-2273.
Protecting our Staff:
We ask that clients who have recently traveled to endemic areas, or any client with a fever, active cough, or other concerning signs call us at least 2 hours before your scheduled appointment to reschedule. We will do our best to accommodate your needs and can reschedule non-urgent cases or suggest potential options for your pet if urgent care is warranted.
We will do everything we can to uphold the exceptional veterinary care our pet parents and patients deserve. Call us at (805) 682-2647 if there is anything we can do to help keep your pets healthy during this challenging time.
Kind Regards,
The Doctors and Staff of San Roque Pet Hospital

EXCITING NEWS!
San Roque Pet Hospital WELCOMES Dr. Tarashansky!
Dr. Tarashansky (a.k.a. - "Dr. T") comes to us from U.C. Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. He has interests in internal medicine and surgery. Most of all he loves high quality, family veterinary medicine as he gets to foster and maintain long-term relationships with pets and their people.
Dr. T graduated from UCSB with a B.S. in Aquatic Biology. He is also an accomplished jazz musician and regularly performs on the Alto Saxophone and loves the piano as well. Don't be surprised if you see him playing at different places downtown Santa Barbara or even performing for fun on the street with friends.
Dr. T was raised nearby in Agoura Hills where his parents still live. An interesting fact about him is he has an identical twin brother who is now receiving his PhD in bioengineering at Stanford.
Dr. Tarashansky also loves reading, watching shows, and spending time hiking and biking with his great McNab Collie dog, "Koda". He can't wait to meet you and spend time with you and your pet(s) as well!
Please help us in welcoming Dr. Tarashansky to our SBVG family!
Sweet Lilly is looking for a home!
Lilly is a 13 year old mixed breed. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Lilly’s owner is unable to provide the care needed for her at this time. She is a gentle, quiet, senior and although Lilly is starting to show signs of aging, she still has s***k in her! Lilly does deal with disorientation at times, she is deaf, and she requires a bland diet due to her sensitive stomach. She is currently taking one medication to help with her joints. She doesn’t seem to mind other dogs, and we are unsure how she is with cats. At one point in her life, Lilly probably loved to play with children, but now would do best in a home with no young children as she is sensitive and unable to hear.
If you are interested in adopting sweet Lilly, please contact San Roque Pet Hospital 805 682-2647.

She worked as a nurse while gaining additional veterinary experience, and graduated with her veterinary degree in 2018 from the University of Illinois.
