Our happy alumni cutie Max (Maximus) is the cover star of our calendar this year! ⭐️

We usually feature a picture of an alumni baby against a gorgeous California backdrop, but this year our designer loved this playful picture of Max wearing glasses 😁 And it perfectly captures the sweet and silly Samoyed personality we all know and love!

Samoyeds are most well known for being gorgeous (and of course they are) but there’s so much more to them than meets the eye. And of course we love everythimg about them, inside and out. I guess you could say we’re a little biased 😂

Thank you to everyone who’s ordered so far! Our calendars are hot off the press and all orders ship this week! Every dollar raised goes toward saving more Samoyeds like Max! 🤍

As we wrap up 2025, we remember a pair of very special alumni who both gained their wings this past year: Jack and Jill 🤍

These gorgeous bonded littermates came to us in 2021 when their owner, a dear friend of SFSR, Karl, passed away, and his wife Jo went to an assisted living home. They loved Jack and Jill, their Samoyed/Siberian Husky seniors, very much, and we were thrilled to be able to find them the absolute perfect home with Kim and Ed.

Finding a good home for one senior is sometimes not easy, so finding a home for both together was truly a blessing.

To say Jack and Jill spent their golden years loved is an understatement. They were truly adored and cherished beyond measure. From walks in the woods to snowy adventures to the coziness of home, they had everything they could want.

Jack gained his wings first, a couple of months short of his 15th birthday, and his sister Jill followed closely behind. We can only imagine the joyous reunion they had with their beloved original owners.

Run free, dear Jack and Jill, knowing you are forever loved 🌈🤍🤍✨

We are so incredibly grateful to Kim and Ed for opening their hearts and home to these two angels. Please join us in sending them love 🤍

Freya Update: We're being cautiously optimistic, but she's responding really well to the treatment! If she can hold steady through the night, she'll get released to go back to her foster tomorrow!!!

We can only imagine how thrilled she'll be. Please keep those prayers and good vibes coming!

Details: The folks at VEG in Palo Alto have continued with blood gas testing every four hours. They were able to lower her supplemental oxygen from 6 to 2, and by noon today it was down to 1, so she's now off oxygen, breathing well on her own. She does still have a bit of fluid in her lungs but her body is doing its job of absorbing it slowly.

She even got two small walks on leash to p*e. She ate a little bit of baby food too. In other great news, we were worried she was going to have her tail amputated from the infection, but her body is reacting well to the antibiotics and she'll get to keep her tail!

They'll continue testing and monitoring her tonight, and if all goes well, she'll get released tomorrow at noon.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE INCREDIBLE LOVE AND SUPPORT! 🤍

Here’s a picture of Freya at her foster before her medical emergency. Let’s visualize her safely back there again tomorrow 🙏🤍

It’s been a tough 36 hours, and the shining light through it all has been your outpouring of love for dear Freya. Thank you for your support. It means the world to us and her. We know she can feel the love 🤍

Here’s our latest update: In a nutshell, Freya is a fighter, but it’s been touch and go.

Through blood gas testing every 4 hours, we’ve been trending the function of the lungs. One of those numbers is C02 turnover. High normal is 44. She was 44 at 9:30am yesterday. At 2:30pm, she was 49.

Last night at 7:00 she was 45. They have been keeping her sleeping with light sedation. Antibiotics continue to be given for her tail infection and to fight off the onset of pneumonia.

At 5am today she was down to 35 and was responding well. We were ecstatic! But by noon today, she was back up to 45.

Please keep this sweet girl in your thoughts. We pray she stabilizes and pulls through 🙏

On this Giving Tuesday, please look at the sweet faces of some of the Samoyeds in need we've been able to save, and consider making a donation to San Francisco Samoyed Rescue.

We're proud to be the oldest Samoyed rescue in the country, saving Samoyeds and mixes in need since 1974! The pups we save are abandoned, surrendered, or found when they need a friend the most.

We never know what each dog will need when we take them in, and we regularly spend thousands of dollars and countless hours at the vet making sure they have the full care they need — and often never got before. Then we find each dog their perfect home to set them up for success. And we're there for the life of the dog if ever their adopter can no longer care for them. SFSR Family means family for life.

We can't do what we do without the generous support of our community! Every dollar counts. Your donations to us are 100% tax deductible. Our EIN is 23-7433903.

Please show your support today: sfsr.org/which-donate

Thank you kindly from all the humans and Samoyeds at SFSR!
