It's play time! 6 weeks old!
We are currently accepting and vetting all applications for the puppies. They will be placed into their new homes at 10 weeks old.
Do you live in Northern California/Tahoe areas? Do you have another dog? Are you ready to devote the time and energy to training a wild puppy, aka Velociraptor? Remember, this is a 12-14 year commitment. The puppies are not pure-bred Samoyeds. They are Golden Sams with a pinch of husky. With proper training and love they will be wonderful family members. So get ready now!
If you have already applied, no need to do it again. But if not, please go to: https://www.sfsr.org/pre-adoption-form and tell us a bit about yourself and family. You will be then contacted for a home check and interview if your application fits.

Please join us in wishing a very happy 13th birthday to our sweet alumni Winter! 🎂🤍

Winter, formerly Nadia, was found a few years back in a canal with a bullet in her leg. We’ll never understand how anyone could do that to her. With donations from our awesome community, we were able to get her the medical care she needed.

Her foster mom, Anne, nursed her back to health and adopted her. Winter’s story is testament to the resilience of dogs, the power of love, and why we do what we do!

Happy birthday, dear Winter, we love you! 🤍

Behold the many adorable faces of Wiley! 🥰

Wiley is asking us if our community knows what a sweet and silly lovebug he is 🥹 Yes, Wiley, we’ll make sure they know, handsome boy 🤍

Do you need a partner who is equal parts snuggler and adventure buddy? Look no further than Wiley!

Wylie is a 3-year-old Samoyed mix with a big heart and an adventurous spirit. This handsome boy was found living on his own at an RV park, surviving by begging for food. Despite his rough start, Wylie absolutely loves people and dreams of finding a home of his own where he can finally relax and feel safe.

Wylie is active and smart, with all the classic Sammy traits—playful, expressive, and full of personality. Because he had to fend for himself for a while, he’ll need a confident, experienced dog owner who can provide gentle structure and guidance. Once he knows he’s truly home and won’t be abandoned again, he’ll be an incredible companion.

The verdict is in! Chardonnay’s puppies are 100% good babies! 🤍

Our Embark Vet DNA test of our “orange boy” puppy came back:
50% Samoyed
43.8% Golden Retriever
6.2% Siberian Husky

We had over 200 guesses in our “Who’s your daddy?” contest, and 4 people guessed the right 3 breeds. It was a tough one! Lots of folks guessed Great Pyrenees, and we can see why. The Golden Retriever part was pretty easy to spot, but you never know! The Husky was the wild card!

Our 4 finalists messaged us their guess of percentages, and the closest guess was Talia! 🤍

Talia guessed:
50% Golden
35% Samoyed
15% Husky

Nicole (.lee) guessed:
50% Golden
30% Husky
20% Samoyed

Eugene () guessed:
50% Golden
30% Samoyed
20% Husky

K.M.H. () guessed:

Drumroll please!!! 🥁We received over 200 guesses on our Facebook and Instagram “Who’s your daddy?” puppy contest posts!

And a total of 4 people guessed correctly which 3 breeds Chardonnay’s puppies are made of!

The puppies are Samoyed, Golden Retriever, Husky!!! 🤍

Now we go into the final round where we ask these 4 finalists to guess the percentages of each breed ⭐️

We have our DNA results and now it’s time to guess “Who’s your daddy?”

We did a little photoshoot with the puppies today! They’re 4 weeks old 🥹

Mom is Chardonnay, found as a pregnant stray, listed as a Samoyed (last picture here). We don’t know who the dad is. Looking at the puppies, what breeds do you think they are?

ONE HINT: They’re a mix of 3 breeds!

RULES: Whoever can guess all 3 breeds correctly wins an SFSR baseball cap! Post your responses in the comments. One guess per person!

If we have a tie of more than one person guessing the right breeds, we’ll ask those folks to guess percentages!

This post here (and the identical one on our Instagram page) are the only responses we’ll take into consideration.
