🚨 New Shelter Policy Hurts Dogs' Well-Being 🚨

On May 21, San Jose Animal Shelter volunteers were shocked to receive an email:
❌ No more plush toys
❌ No long-lasting chews
✅ ONLY stuffed Kongs now allowed for dog enrichment

Why? Drainage concerns.
Who suffers? The dogs.

These animals are already stressed, confined 24/7, and often overlooked. Now they’ve lost the few comforts they had—items that helped ease their anxiety, pass the long hours, and provide a sense of security.

🐾 Enrichment isn’t optional. It’s essential for mental and emotional health. San Jose Volunteers purchase most of entichment items themselves, as there is no funding allocated.

We're calling on the shelter to reinstate full in-kennel enrichment—including safe, comfort items that help dogs thrive while they wait for homes.

🇺🇸🐾 Happy Memorial Day from Snow Ball, a Survivor and a Symbol of Hope! 🐾🇺🇸

This little pup, once scared and abandoned in a Bay Area shelter in California, was placed on the euthanasia list. But fate had other plans—thanks to a last-minute rescue, Snow Ball was given a second chance at life! 💖

Today, he’s living the sweetest life imaginable: sailing with his family, running on the beach, snuggling on the couch for movie nights. His journey from a scared shelter dog to a beloved family member is a true testament to hope, love, and the power of compassion.

As we honor this Memorial Day, let’s also remember that every life is worth fighting for. Whether it’s the brave humans we commemorate today or the voiceless animals like Snow Ball, every act of kindness counts.

These little sweet babies were found in South San Jose. They were by the creek where coyotes may grab them, they were sitting in grass and crying . The person who found them, can’t keep them
For long, and local shelter is not taking animals in. One black kitten already was given away ( a girl), three boys are left and we want to help them find good homes.
Please get in touch with us, if you are looking to add a little furry friend or two to your family. Kittens are probably about 7 weeks ( finder is not sure), they are sweet, already figured how to use litter box and are adorable!
