This Is Chimmy!

Peninsula Catworks recently received an urgent request for a very sick little kitten named Chimmy. Chimmy’s rescuer told us she had rescued a stray pregnant mother cat and cared for her until she gave birth to five kittens. The rescuer paid out of pocket to get mom and babies spayed/neutered because she wanted to give all of them a good chance for a healthy life.
Then, mom cat became very sick with severe diarrhea, so the rescuer took her to the vet and paid for her examination and medications. Unfortunately, all the kittens developed the same illness, and one of them—little Chimmy—became much sicker than the others. The vet recommended that Chimmy be hospitalized. Sadly, the rescuer could not afford the hospital stay or diagnostic testing.
Peninsula Catworks covered the cost of Chimmy’s three-day hospital stay and medications. Heartfelt thanks to The Dancing Cat for their kind help in paying for many of the necessary tests. We’re happy to say that Chimmy is now back to good health and looking for her forever home. All of Chimmy’s siblings are now healthy and happy and seeking homes.
Keep posted for the latest news about Chimmy and her mom and siblings. To learn more about what we do at Peninsula Catworks, visit us at: https://www.peninsulacatworks.org/

Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day and we offer ourselves into the shared circle of grief over the lives that forever changed us. We didn’t want to be in this club but we unknowingly join the moment we adopt as their time with us does not span our lifetime. The consolation is almost everyone you meet has experienced this sorrow, you are not alone. Ask a friend or loved one to share a memory or photo today of their beloveds, speak their names and hold them in your heart and share yours. Rescue work is woven with grief over and over but those threads tell a story of love never lost: to our fellow rescuers we honor your hearts full of little stitches ❤️🐾

Mother/Daughter adoption alert!

Disky is a lovely, independent beauty with a serene countenance. She enjoys a quiet life focused on relaxation but also has a playful side that shines when she’s chasing toys or swatting at wand toys. Her favorite playmate is her daughter, Karaoke. The two of them are inseparable and often wrestle or play in the cutest, most synchronized way. Watching them together is pure joy, even if their games sometimes get a little wild! Disky also has a soft spot for cardboard boxes, where she loves to lounge and observe her surroundings.

Karaoke, the life of the party full of high-energy fun! This playful little dynamo absolutely loves wand toys and can jump and play for hours on end. Karaoke has an adorable habit of curling up for naps on top of a large stuffed dinosaur. Karaoke enrolls her mama in shenanigans and enjoys antagonizing her like all daughters do from time to time. just for funsies!

Together forever with their adoring adopter Jacklyn, who calls them Kara and Chloe now. The girls adjusted to their new life with relative ease, and the fun was off and running. Jacklyn remarked “I love the fact they are a bonded pair so they can depend on one another and grow together but also have another animal to keep them company and be lifelong friends together.” Mommy and daughter are adoptions #2020 & #2021!

Who says you cannot train a cat? In our latest video, The Dancing Cat’s staff member Taise Godinho breaks down two easy methods to train and engage your cat’s mind, curb boredom, and build a stronger bond right from home.

1. Food Puzzles: Cats are natural hunters designed to work for their food. Puzzles tap into their foraging instincts by forcing them to use their paws and brains to unlock kibble or treats. This mental workout stops boredom, reduces stress, and keeps cats active!

2. Clicker Training: Using positive reinforcement, a clicker marks the exact moment your cat does a desired behavior like sitting or meowing. The distinct click instantly tells them a treat is on the way, making it easy to communicate and teach new habits.

Check out the full video to see Taise’s cats demonstrating these techniques in action! Have you tried mental enrichment or training with your cats at home? Let us know in the comments below!
