Chewing is self-rewarding, so timing matters. If you wait until the dog has already enjoyed chewing the couch, table, or basket, the correction comes too late.

Lucy already knows how to follow food into a down, but that won’t help if the distraction is more exciting than the treat. We’re teaching her to respond to leash pressure so “down” still works when people are involved.

Dahlia is learning that “heel” does not just mean come back when nothing else is happening. It means come back to the handler even when there is something more exciting in front of her.

Lucy is learning that pulling doesn’t get her anywhere. If she hits the end of the leash, we turn, and if she checks in, she gets rewarded.

Dachshunds may be small, but they were bred to be fearless, driven, and persistent. That means they need training, structure, socialization, and plenty of mental stimulation to become well rounded dogs.

Pinto loves jumping on the couch for attention, so we’re creating a clear boundary. The tether prevents him from practicing the behavior while we reward him for lying down instead.

Blue has made himself the self-appointed defender of the home, so we’re giving him a new job. When people come to the door, his job is to go to place, stay there, and wait until released.

Some puppies do not naturally know how to settle, so we have to teach them what calm behavior looks like. Diamond is learning that “place” means go to the bed, lie down, and stay there until released.
