🐱 July 15 is Feline Leukemia Day! 🧬
Let’s talk about Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV)—a serious and contagious disease that affects cats' immune systems.

Did you know?
🔹 FeLV is one of the leading causes of death in cats.
🔹 It spreads through saliva, grooming, sharing food bowls, or bites.
🔹 Cats who go outdoors or live with other cats are most at risk.
🔹 There’s no cure, but vaccination and early testing can protect your pet.

If your cat spends time outdoors or with other cats, talk to us about FeLV testing and vaccines to keep them safe.

📞 Call us at 858-271-1152 to schedule an appointment.

Honoring All Who Served—Two-Legged and Four-Legged

This Memorial Day, we remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation—and we also honor the loyal service animals who stood beside them.

These courageous companions worked tirelessly, often in harm's way, offering protection, support, and unwavering loyalty.

Today, we reflect on all who made the ultimate sacrifice—human and animal alike.

We remember. We honor. We thank you.

May the Fur-ce Be With You!
This Star Wars Day, we’re celebrating all the Jedi pets, Sith kitties, and Wookiee-sized love our furry (and not-so-furry) patients bring into our galaxy.

Whether your companion is more Chewbarka or Meowbacca, remember: they deserve the best care in the universe.

From all of us at Center Veterinary Clinic — May the 4th be with you (and your pets)!

🐣🌷 Happy Easter from Center Veterinary Clinic! 🌷🐣

As you celebrate with family, friends, and lots of chocolate, don’t forget about your furry family members! 🐶🐱 Here are some Easter pet safety tips to keep tails wagging all weekend long:

🐾 No Chocolate for Pets! Chocolate is toxic to dogs and cats—keep those Easter baskets out of reach!

🌸 Watch Out for Lilies: These beautiful blooms are highly toxic to cats. Keep them out of your home if you have feline friends.

🍬 Beware of Xylitol: This artificial sweetener, found in sugar-free gum and candy, is extremely dangerous to pets—even in small amounts.

🎀 Skip the Easter Grass: That shiny plastic grass may look fun, but it can cause intestinal blockages if ingested by curious pets.

🥚 Egg Hunts with Care: Keep track of all eggs—real or plastic—so your pet doesn’t find one later and turn it into a dangerous snack.

Wishing you a joyful (and safe!) Easter full of love, laughter, and lots of snuggles. 💛🐾

🐾 April is National Heartworm Awareness Month! 🐾

Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal condition that affects dogs, cats, and even ferrets. Transmitted by mosquitoes, heartworms can grow and multiply in the heart and lungs, leading to severe health issues.

The good news? It’s 100% preventable! 🦟🚫

✅ Keep your pets on year-round heartworm prevention
✅ Schedule annual heartworm tests with your veterinarian
✅ Protect your furry friends before it’s too late!

Let’s spread awareness and keep our pets happy, healthy, and heartworm-free! 💙🐶🐱

Why Do Cats have a small fold of skin on their outer ear? 🤔🐱

That little flap, known as Henry’s pocket (scientifically, the cutaneous marginal pouch), has a mysterious purpose! While its exact function isn’t fully understood, it's believed to help filter sounds, enhancing a cat’s ability to detect high-frequency noises—perfect for a stealthy hunter. 🎯🐭

It may also allow the ear to fold more easily when a cat flattens them in response to fear, anxiety, or pain. With 32 muscles in each ear, cats can rotate their ears 180 degrees and move them independently for ultimate sound precision! 🎶👂
