Buddy was found roaming the streets in Ensenada. A family member from our vet office was in Mexico and spotted this boy and while they were down there, they took care of them for two weeks. When they were getting ready to leave, he jumped in their truck and insisted on going home with them!! We are beyond grateful that Buddy took this leap of faith to start his new life in the states. Buddy has a broken right front leg so he has an awkward but adorable gate and stance. We are getting opinions from our vet and also an orthopedic surgeon to see what would be the best plan for him. Buddy is currently 20 pounds under weight so we are working on helping him get healthy before we neuter him. This boy is super sweet and loving and will be the most amazing family member ever! We understand that quite a few people have seen our post about these little pigs living in squalor and are very concerned. We also understand that the it seems like calling animal control should be the first thing done. Unfortunately animal control in this area has proven to be pretty ineffective. Calling them now would just shut down our ability to help these animals and they would more than likely remain on this property in the same conditions or worse. It would also stop us from being able to help any other animals here. Robin was already successful in negotiating the rescue of two of these piglets and we don’t intend to stop working to get them all help. We will continue to check on these pigs, find out who is breeding them, offer resources for rescue and help, and advocate for better lives for all the animals here. Yes, if these people become resistant and refuse the help being offered then we will have to call animal control and hope that something is done. We are going to try and do what we can first. Cici is a sweet German Shepard girl who is still waiting for her forever home. Cici always has her ears up standing at attention! Cici currently lives with 3 other dogs and is great with them. This little girl sleeps in a crate at night and will whine to let you know she needs to go out potty. Cici needs a patient family to let her warm up as she adjusts to her new home. This sweet girl is shy until she qualifies that you’re a good person. Cici LOVES children and would do amazing in a home with small children. Cici allows the children in the home to wrap her up and a blanket and to dress her in clothes. She is a real sweetheart. Apply today at DMDR.org.

Unbeknownst to the owners at this property Robin snuck back to check on the other animals. These poor pigs were standing in water and mud with no food or water. She found what food they did have and also gave them some dog food. Robin begged the owner to let her help these pigs and get them fixed. Unfortunately animal control doesn’t really help in these situations. These poor babies are suffering if you’d be interested in donating our pellets please reach out so we can continue helping these poor babies.

While we were out helping the dogs in the homeless encampments we met some chickens in need of rescue. Thank you so much Pamela Dirkes for taking them in so they don’t get eaten.

This is Boy. He is a very sweet large breed dog that we’ve been visiting at the homeless encampments in Perris. He is in need of a new place to live. He would do great in an area with a lot of space to play and roam. He has been chasing after dirt bikes and we want to find him a safe place to live. Destiny was saved 1 week from today from a homeless encampment. She went to our vet last Monday to get spayed, have several teeth extracted (due to severe infection and breakage), she had her remaining teeth cleaned, and she got chipped and vaccinated. Destiny is probably one of the sweetest dogs our boarding facility said that they have ever met in their life. Destiny loves to lay on her blankets, she loves to be around her people and she is unbelievably friendly. Destiny does have a spunky personality when she gets comfortable but all in all really mellow. This little senior girl deserves a home to live out the rest of her life. We are so shocked that no one has fallen in love with Gizzy! Gizzy is great with young children, and would make a great family dog. Gizzy does well with other dogs after proper introductions. Gizzy loves to play ball and gets the zoomies from time to time so she needs a yard to stretch her legs. Gizzy is treat motivated so training her is easy. Gizzy still needs a little bit of leash work as she gets excited when she sees other dogs or new people. Gizzy needs a home with a family who will love her and spoil her. UPDATE ON THE CANE CORSO! We finally were able to secure this big girl this morning, she was so fearful that we had arranged for a professional trapper to come this morning but luckily we were able to get her out from under the debris and carry her to the crate (muzzle was for our safety, this sweet lady has shown zero aggression, and came off as soon as she was in the crate). She’s headed to the vet Tuesday morning for eye surgery, she will also need training as she’s extremely shut down and we want to set her up for success. She will need time to decompress and work with our trainer, and we will continue to update on her process.
