🇺🇸The 4th is fun for humans—but can be a nightmare for pets.

Here’s how to keep your four-legged family safe and sound this Independence Day:

🛑 Create a safe zone: Set up a cozy, secure space indoors where your pet feels safe—think crate, closet, or a quiet bedroom with their favorite toys.

😌 Take a chill pill: CBD, Calming chews, anxiety vests, or vet-prescribed meds can help your pet stay mellow during fireworks. A little prep goes a long way!

🚫 No party snacks, please: Human food and booze can be dangerous (even deadly) for pets. Keep plates and cups out of paw’s reach.

💦 Hydration is key: With all the excitement and heat, make sure water bowls stay full and easily accessible.

🔒 Microchip & GPS: Make sure your pet’s microchip info is up to date and your GPS collar is fully charged before the fireworks start.

July 5th is the busiest day of the year for shelters due to panicked pets on the loose.

🎧 Bonus tip: Turn on the TV or some music to help drown out the boom-booms. White noise can make a big difference!

We couldn’t do what we do without our amazing South Bark team—big shoutout to every one of you for your hard work, passion, and all the love you show our furry customers!

We celebrated with a fantastic dinner and party in IB, hosted by the wonderful Alynn and Emmi, who made the night so special.

Delicious food, great company, and plenty of laughs—what more could we ask for?
