At Talega Animal Hospital, we pride ourselves on having a team that can do it all—but Vivian takes 'multitasking' to a whole new level! 🚀✨

The Ultimate Hybrid:
Vivian is our resident 'Swiss Army Knife.' Whether she’s at the front desk as a CSR extraordinaire or in the back as a skilled Veterinary Assistant, she handles every patient (and pet parent!) with total pro vibes. 🩺💻

Her True Specialization:
While she’s cross-trained in medicine and management, Vivian has a third unofficial certification: Emergency Diet Coke Logistics. 🥤💨

If the clinic’s caffeine levels drop below critical, Vivian is already out the door on a high-stakes Diet Coke run. In fact, she’s so dedicated to the cause that she’s even started color-coordinating her scrubs to the Diet Coke box.

Meet our magnificent country queen, Shania Twain! 🌟

GRCGLA Rescue pulled this gorgeous gal from a local shelter, and she didn’t just walk in—she strutted right through our doors at Talega Animal Hospital —and she hasn’t looked back since. 💃🐕

The Royal Treatment:
-Shania’s stylists went straight to work giving her a fabulous blowout, and she absolutely loved every second of the pampering. ✨🧼
-Her medical team performed extensive testing to make sure she's healthy. And off to spay surgery she goes! We're always so happy to help the rescue groups make sure the dogs they have in their care are happy and as healthy as can be!

The Stats on Our Star:
🎂 Age: 3 years and 10 months
⚖️ Weight: 88 lbs of pure love
🧬 Breed: A majestic Great Pyrenees with a sprinkle of Golden Retriever—the ultimate loyal and loving combination!

Take a look at these dental radiographs (X-rays) from one of our recent small-breed patients. Despite appearing 'fine' on the surface, these X-rays revealed severe bone loss around every single tooth. Sadly, this patient required full-mouth extractions to finally live a pain-free life. 💔🐾

Why Small Breeds are at Higher Risk:
If you have a Maltese, Pomeranian, Yorkie, or other small breed, their teeth are crowded into a much smaller space, making them prone to rapid plaque buildup. Dental disease happens fast in these little ones! 💨🐶

Dr. Snyder’s Recommendation:
To prevent periodontal disease from leading to extractions, we recommend annual professional dental cleanings starting at just 1 year of age for small breeds. Early intervention is the key to keeping those pearly whites in place!

Think our San Clemente ocean breeze keeps the mosquitoes away? 🌊 Think again! 🦟 We actually just got a phone call this week asking us to treat a heartworm positive dog in San Clemente (of course we said yes!)

Even here in beautiful South OC, heartworm disease is a year-round threat. It only takes ONE bite from an infected mosquito to put your furry friend at risk—and yes, they can even find their way into your home! If your dog’s skin looks thick, dark, and almost “elephant-like,” it may be a condition called lichenification—often the result of chronic skin allergies.

Over time, constant itching, licking, and inflammation can cause the skin to become thickened, wrinkled, and hyperpigmented. This isn’t just a cosmetic issue—it’s a sign of long-term discomfort and ongoing skin disease.
