IT’S NOT THE NEWS WE WERE WANTING…
Toasted Marshmallow went back to Schertz Animal Hospital this week for yet another recheck and more bloodwork. This poor boy has been poked and prodded so much that he’s now intolerant of everything — they had to sedate him with gas just to draw blood… and that was after I had pre-dosed him with gabapentin. 💔
The results were… not good.
Despite being on doxycycline, Baytril, and prednisolone, Marshmallow is now even *more* anemic. On top of that, his globulin and total protein levels are elevated — which strongly indicates Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP).
So the bad news… is that Marshmallow most likely has FIP.
And the good news… is that Marshmallow most likely has FIP.
Because, now, we finally have answers. And more importantly — we have a clear path forward for treatment.
FIP is no longer a death sentence… but treatment is very expensive. And as always, we are committed to doing everything we can to save him.
