Thinking about volunteering with DaisyCares? Don’t just take it from us. Hear from one of our volunteers about why she chooses to give her time.🌼

Kelly King is a San Antonio Food Bank employee and DaisyCares volunteer, and for her, the mission hits close to home: helping keep pets with the families who love them and educating our community about responsible pet ownership.

Through Pet Food Distributions, Project Kindness and other programs, DaisyCares works to support pets and the people who love them while helping our community learn how we can be more responsible and compassionate pet owners.💛

And as Kelly shares, volunteering isn’t just about what you give. It’s about what you get back, too.

Good partners don’t just show up once. They keep showing up for the community.🌼

We’re so grateful to Kirsten Carabin of Carabin Law for supporting DaisyCares and our mission to help keep pets with the families who love them. 💛

This year’s Daisies & Dresses event with Dress for Success San Antonio (Dress for Success San Antonio) was the beginning of this partnership, and we’re excited to continue building that relationship and explore more ways we can work together to support our community.

Thank you, Kirsten and the Carabin Law team, for showing up for DaisyCares and for the pets and families we serve. We’re excited to see where this partnership takes us!

Today, we’re saying goodbye to a true country music legend and a woman who used her heart and her voice to make the world a little kinder.💛

Dolly Parton’s love for animals was a meaningful part of her legacy. Through projects like Doggy Parton, she helped support animal rescue and shine a light on pets in need.

At DaisyCares, we share that same belief: pets are family, and every pet deserves to be loved, fed and cared for.

Thank you, Dolly, for the music, the kindness and the example you set for all of us who believe in doing a little good wherever we can. We’ll carry that inspiration forward.

Rest easy, Dolly.

We know how important your pets are to you, and we want to make sure the food you receive from DaisyCares is in good condition.💛

Because the pet food we distribute is donated to us, there are occasionally bags that arrive with tears or other packaging damage. Damaged or unsealed packaging can allow stored-food insects to get into dry pet food, which is why our volunteers do their best to inspect the bags before they are distributed.

We do our best to catch any damaged bags or signs of insects before food reaches your hands, but with the large volume of donated food we distribute, sometimes something may get missed.

If you get home from a DaisyCares Pet Food Distribution and notice bugs or other signs that the food may not be okay, please do not throw away the bag. Keep the food and packaging and contact us at [email protected] so we can help.

We will work with you to replace the affected bag with a new, intact bag of pet food.🌼

Your pets deserve food that is safe and in good condition, and making sure you have what you need to care for them is important to us.💛

If you notice a problem, please let us know. We are here to help.

Our August 17th Pet Food Distribution wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible volunteers who showed up and gave their time to support local pets and families.💛

All morning, they worked through the South Texas heat to unload food, organize supplies, direct traffic, greet families, and help load vehicles.

Every role matters, and every helping hand makes a difference. Because of their time, energy, and compassion, we’re able to get much-needed pet food into the hands of families and help keep pets healthy, happy, and at home.🌼

To everyone who volunteered during our August 17 Distribution, thank you for showing up and making a difference. We’re so grateful for you and the important role you play in our mission.

“I encourage people to get to know DaisyCares and the amazing work they are doing in the community. This is a transforming organization that is helping neighbors who are struggling.”
— Kelly King, San Antonio Food Bank employee & DaisyCares volunteer

DaisyCares and the San Antonio Food Bank work together to make sure pet food reaches the families who need it most, helping pets stay healthy and stay with the people who love them. 💛

DaisyCares operates out of the Food Bank, which provides the space and resources that make distributions on this scale possible. But DaisyCares covers the logistical costs of getting that food into the community, including transporting, storing and distributing the food.

Last year alone, DaisyCares distributed 1.5 million pounds of pet food through 183 agencies and pantries across 23 counties in South Central Texas. 🌼

This partnership makes that work possible, but it cannot happen without the support of our donors. 💛

Follow DaisyCares to learn more about our work and how we are helping keep pets healthy, happy and with the families who love them. 🌼

This is why we do what we do.💛

After losing her job two years ago, one of our neighbors has continued searching for work while doing everything she can to care for the pets she loves. With both cats and dogs at home, the cost of keeping everyone fed can quickly add up.

Thanks to DaisyCares’ Pet Food Program, she can focus on getting back on her feet while knowing her pets are receiving the food and care they deserve.

“They are a blessing to us all here in San Antonio.”

Stories like hers remind us that behind every bag of pet food is a family finding hope, stability, and the ability to keep their beloved pets at home.

Thank you to everyone who makes this possible through your generosity.

Every board member has a story. Christy’s began with one meeting and a mission she couldn’t walk away from.💛

When Christy Andrews first learned about DaisyCares, a friend described it as “the best kept secret in San Antonio.” After attending a meeting and seeing the organization’s impact firsthand, she knew she wanted to be part of it.

“I fell in love with the mission. It filled a void that we desperately needed in San Antonio.”

For Christy, DaisyCares is about removing the financial barriers that can keep families from caring for the pets they love. Whether it’s providing pet food, veterinary care, or education through programs like Project Kindness, she believes every effort helps keep pets where they belong: at home with the people who love them. 🐾

She also believes lasting change starts with the next generation.

“If we teach children how to take care of their pets, less will be harmed or dumped.”

We’re so grateful to have compassionate leaders like Christy helping guide DaisyCares’ mission and expand its impact across our community.

Stay tuned as we continue introducing the dedicated people behind DaisyCares. 🌼

For Felix, his two dogs aren’t just pets. They’re family. 💛

At our July pet food distribution, we had the chance to catch up with Felix, who shared what DaisyCares’ pet food assistance means to him and his pups, including his English Bulldog, Daisy. (We couldn’t help but smile when we heard her name!)

Like so many families in our community, rising costs have made it harder to make ends meet. Felix shared that pet food has become increasingly expensive, and DaisyCares’ pet food distributions help ensure his dogs continue getting the nutritious food they need while easing some of the financial stress.

Stories like Felix’s remind us that sometimes a bag of pet food means so much more. It means peace of mind, one less financial burden, and the ability to continue caring for the companions who mean everything.

Thank you to everyone who helps make these pet food distributions possible. Your generosity is making a difference for families across our community.🌼🐾
