You may see a “new” face here at The Doghouse but my daughter, Laura, has been behind the scene for a few years and we are excited to welcome her back full time. Her knowledge of the animals is beyond her years and you should take great comfort in knowing she is part of the team taking care of your fur kids!

On the weekends, you may catch a glimpse of Lindsay, who is here part time. Her previous experience as a vet tech makes her a great asset to the team!

Freddy is a 5-year-old Pit Mix looking for a good home. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccines. Through no fault of his own, Freddy has found himself with us. He is on the smaller side, approximately 50 lbs. He is very sweet, but we are still learning his personality traits. He is very well house broken. We want to thank our wonderful Customers for reaching out to the County Council to show support in what we do everyday.

At this point, the legislation has been reconsidered and existing kennels will not be affected. We look forward to taking care of your fur babies for years to come.

To our wonderful Customers, please take a minute to read about this recently passed County Legislature that is threatening every established boarding kennel in Wicomico County.

This was passed without any consideration to businesses in the county. We all plan to fight this, but we ask that you do whatever you can so that the County Council can understand just how important we all are to this county. 🐶🐱🐾🦴

“WICOMICO COUNTY, MD – In a move that has sparked concern among local business owners, the Wicomico County Council has passed Legislative Bill 2025-01, imposing restrictive and impractical regulations on kennel operations across the county.

This reactive and short-sighted legislation threatens the viability of existing kennels and creates unnecessary obstacles for small business owners.

The most controversial provision of the bill requires that, within three years, all kennel facilities ensure their dog runs are located no less than 1,000 feet from an existing residential dwelling on another parcel.

This excessive and arbitrary requirement effectively renders every current kennel in the county noncompliant, forcing costly relocations or potential closures.
“This legislation is a blatant attack on responsible kennel owners who have operated in good faith for years,” said Julie Giordano, County Executive. “It is an anti-business, knee-jerk reaction that disregards the economic and practical realities of running a kennel. I will be vetoing the bill.”

The Council’s decision to pass this measure without considering its devastating consequences is a setback for local businesses and sets a troubling precedent for future regulations. Kennel owners are being urged to voice their concerns at the upcoming County Council meeting:

Ruby is looking for her forever home. She is a 6 year old spayed female who has all her shots and is declawed in the front. She is playful and very sweet. It takes her a while to warm up to new people as she has been through so many huge changes. Through it all she has never offered to bite as some declawed cats will do. She uses her litter box and loves attention. Ruby needs a good inside only home where she can spend the rest of her life.
