Dr. Gardner injecting Regenaflex RT (an amnion derived product) as a regional limb perfusion to a horse with a soft tissue injury to the lower limb. This is a newer treatment similar to stem cells that allows us to help heal and support soft tissue injuries!

Dr. Porter and Dr. Gardner performed a venogram on a horse recently at the clinic. Venograms are used to assess the blood flow within the hoof! A tourniquet is placed prior to injecting a contrast dye into the digital vein. X-rays are then taken to see the blood flow inside the hoof. This diagnostic is most commonly used in laminitis cases and can be helpful in aiding your farrier in developing the best shoeing plan going forward with some of these severe cases.

Dr. Gardner recently spent several days at the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine for his continuing education. He spent time with many of the equine clinicians that we already consult with and refer advanced cases to. These cases may require advanced imaging like CT/MRI scans or advanced surgical procedures/diagnostics performed by boarded specialists. We value our relationship with the veterinary school and appreciated getting to spend some time with them in person!
