With hotter weather predicted this week, this is a timely post from Community Cat Care. If you are a community cat caretaker, be sure to provide them with plenty of fresh, clean water!

A simple bowl of clean water can make the difference between life and death for cats trying to survive outdoors. Dehydration can quickly lead to heat exhaustion, heat stroke, kidney issues, etc. Providing fresh cool clean water is one of the kindest things you can do for them. It never ceases to amaze me how many people feed cats, but do not provide water. It is a simple, free, and fundamental necessity for their survival. Please be a hero and put out some fresh clean water!! 💦💦💦

Edited to add: Never use metal dishes in the sun or extreme heat or cold. This dish is in a spot that is 100% shaded all day long and is refreshed with cold water multiple times per day.

It's prevention infrastructure — programs like SNIP (spay/neuter assistance with a $100 stipend) and The Bridge (financial and housing support) designed to solve problems before they become crises. Connecting it all is the Animal Welfare Resource Network, a free coordination platform linking shelters, rescues, vets, and community partners in real time.

Organizations from Colorado to Canada are already calling. The future of animal welfare is prevention — and it's already being built.
