❤️🐩🐾 LUKE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
Luke is a 5yr old miniature poodle. He weighs 11 lbs. Luke came to FPR after the passing of his owner. Luke was loved but he did not have proper socialization during the five years that he lived with his owner. He was fully vetted by one of our veterinarians and had his teeth cleaned. Though he was cuddly, sweet and playful, his foster parents observed that he was territorial and very reactive around other dogs. Also, he would sometimes snap if you got close to his back. We had him re-examined by the vet to make sure there were no health issues. No issues were noted so we decided to place him with Taylor who is a fabulous dog trainer in Plant City. He has been with her for two months and she has worked with him gradually exposing him to different situations. She reports that Luke is smart as a whip which means that his forever parent would have to outsmart him. He is totally potty and crate trained and has learned a few tricks along with basic commands. He has also not shown any more reactivity towards other dogs since training. He has learned to accept and coexist with other dogs, it is our feeling that his ideal home would be a home where he can be an only dog with an adult(s) owner who works from home. He really is more of a one person loving dog and will be extremely devoted! A fenced yard, though not required, would be a plus. His trainer doesn't think that he will ever be interested in playing with other dogs and that's ok. Not every dog likes to be a member of a pack and rather prefers life with humans.
In order for Luke to go to his forever home, any applicant interested in Luke that we consider a potential adopter after being vetted, needs to be interviewed by the trainer and be willing to meet with Luke and the trainer. If the trainer feels that the approved applicant is the right match, approved applicant would have to agree to closely follow the advice given by the trainer.
