Training isn’t just about practicing commands over and over.

Short play breaks help keep dogs engaged, motivated, and excited to work. Instead of letting training become repetitive, we use play as a reward so they’re eager to jump right back into the next repetition. A dog who enjoys training is a dog who learns faster. 🧸🐾

Say hello to Wilco! šŸ‘‹šŸ¾

Wilco is a 1.5-year-old Cavapoo joining me for Play & Train! He’s an incredibly sweet and smart boy, but his owners are looking for help building his confidence and independence while creating more reliability in everyday life.

Over the next two weeks, we’ll be working on loose leash walking, building longer duration on place, helping him become more comfortable spending time on his own, and creating a more reliable recall—even when something more exciting catches his attention. šŸæļø

I’m excited to work with Wilco and help set both him and his family up for long-term success. Be sure to follow along as we document his Play & Train journey! 🐾

Dog training isn’t just about teaching dogs—it’s about giving owners the knowledge and confidence to continue that success long after the program is over. Hearing that Bootsie and Millie went from stressful walks to enjoyable ones together is exactly why I love what I do.

Thank you so much for trusting me with your girls and for taking the time to leave such a kind review. It means more than you know, and I’m so excited to watch you all continue to grow together. 🐾

Play & Train Graduates: Bootsie & Millie šŸŽ“šŸ¾

These girls made so much progress throughout their program, but what stood out the most was watching their confidence and ability to stay calm together continue to grow. As training progressed, we intentionally began working them side by side to teach them that the same expectations apply whether they’re practicing individually or as a team—and they rose to the challenge beautifully.

I’m so proud of how far they’ve come over the past two weeks, and I know with continued consistency at home they’ll continue building on everything they’ve learned.

Congratulations again, Bootsie and Millie! Thank you for trusting me to be part of your training journey. I can’t wait to see everything you accomplish together. ā¤ļøšŸ¾

Distractions don’t mean training stops—they’re part of the training.

Bootsie is practicing holding a down on place while working through multiple distractions, including toys, food, and even a moving broom. The goal isn’t to eliminate distractions—it’s to teach dogs that they can acknowledge what’s happening around them without feeling the need to get up and investigate every little thing.

Place is so much more than lying on a bed. It’s about building patience, impulse control, and the ability to settle even when exciting things are happening nearby. Those skills carry over into everyday life, whether it’s guests walking through the door, kids playing, dinner being cooked, or something dropping on the floor.

Dogs don’t automatically know how to ignore distractions—it takes practice. The more they rehearse making calm, thoughtful choices, the easier those choices become in everyday life. 🐾

Meet Bootsie! 🐾

Over the next two weeks, we’ll be focusing on helping Bootsie build better engagement, impulse control, and overall reliability in everyday life. We’ll be working on creating a strong obedience foundation while improving her loose leash walking, recall, and ability to remain connected to her handler around distractions.

One of Bootsie’s biggest goals will be learning to remain calm when neighbors and other outside distractions are present instead of immediately reacting. As we build her confidence and strengthen her understanding of the training, we’ll begin applying those skills in increasingly challenging environments so she learns to look to her handler for guidance and make thoughtful decisions instead of reacting impulsively.

Summer has a way of filling up the calendar. Between vacations, work, weekend trips, and everything else life throws your way, finding time for consistent dog training can be difficult.

Puppy Play & Train Graduate, Walter! šŸŽ“

Walter came into the program as a sweet, smart puppy who was eager to learn, and it didn’t take long for that personality to shine. Throughout training, he built a strong foundation while learning how to stay engaged with his handler, make thoughtful choices, and develop the impulse control that will continue to benefit him as he grows.

One of my favorite things about Walter is how quickly he catches on to new concepts. He’s a fun puppy to work with, and it’s been so rewarding watching his confidence and understanding grow with each session.

Puppyhood is all about building the right foundation, and Walter is off to an amazing start. I can’t wait to see him continue practicing everything he’s learned and growing into the wonderful dog I know he’s capable of becoming.

Congratulations again, Walter! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you. ā¤ļøšŸ¶
