C'mon this is ridiculous. The city of St Johns is telling the community they have to watch animals die in the streets!! Happy Feet Pet Rescue is working hard to help control the stray cat population, we can help! There has to be a better answer.
🚨 The Feeding Ban is Hurting Our TNR Efforts – And the City is Ignoring Solutions! 🚨
For months, Happy Feet Pet Rescue has been working day and night to control the feral cat population in Saint Johns through humane TNR. We have:
✔️ Fixed and vaccinated over 40 stray cats
✔️ Rescued and rehomed dozens of kittens
✔️ Provided medical care for injured and sick animals
✔️ Helped reduce nuisance behaviors like spraying and fighting
🚨 TNR is the ONLY humane and effective way to reduce stray cat populations.
But instead of supporting us, the City of St. Johns, MI has been actively working against us. They have:
❌ Ticketed a kind woman who was simply feeding community cats
❌ Refused to acknowledge the benefits of TNR
🚨 WHAT’S WORSE? THE CITY ALREADY HAS A SOLUTION—AND THEY’RE IGNORING IT!
In October 2024, Holly from the Capital Area Humane Society presented draft legislation to the Saint John's City Board that would have created a humane and effective solution for managing community cats.
✅ This plan would have supported TNR, controlled the stray cat population, and prevented suffering.
❌ But the city has done NOTHING with it. No movement.
Saint Johns has chosen punishment over compassion—even when a real, humane alternative has already been handed to them.
WE NEED TO FORCE THEM TO LISTEN!
