📢 Adoption Announcement 📢

Miracle has been adopted by the Noffke family!

After being transferred in from Kankakee County Animal Control this spring, Miracle has been patiently waiting for her forever. Quickly becoming a staff and volunteer favorite, we didn’t understand why she was still here. That changed after a member of the Noffke family met Miracle at the most recent farmers market!

The entire family came out to the shelter, fell head over heels in love with her, and were quick to decide that she needed to be a member of their family.

Congratulations to Miracle and the rest of her new family!

CONSTRUCTION VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!!!

We are looking for some volunteers to help us with a pretty big project at the shelter! This week we had a load of gravel/stone donated and delivered to the shelter so that we can fill in some walk ways, erosion spots, and dig holes/ mud pits the dogs have made.

We are looking for a group of volunteers to help us move the gravel and level it into the correct spots. We will need to borrow wheel barrows and shovels as well as we only have a couple.

If this is something that you can help with, please send us a message! We would like to get something started next week and while this may be more than a days project, we would love to get a start on this! I think we will need as many people as we can get to make this an easier project.

Meet Stitch!

Stitch is a 1.5 yr old mix breed who was thankfully transferred from a high risk shelter in the knick of time.

Stitch rides amazing in the car, walks great on a leash and is so sweet and gentle. He would be an amazing addition any home with kids and adults alike. Stitch is also dog friendly with the right match!

Stitch knows basic obedience but he would love to hone in on his skills by going to more training classes. Stitch is so smart and wants to please.

📢 Adoption Announcement 📢

Julian has been adopted by the Farrel family!

Originally coming to us in April from Kankakee County Animal Control, Julian has been patiently waiting for his forever home to come along. He was spotted by the Farrel family after one of our events at the Kankakee Farmers' Market, and they were quick to apply and set up a time to come in again! Previous adopters from KCHF, we knew they were a great family, and Julian was eager to move in. He gets along so well with their other dog, and he acts as if he has lived there forever. Definitely meant to be!

Nemo has been adopted by the Oelschlager family!

Nemo has been with us since February in one of the very best foster homes, where he has learned how to be a perfect gentleman. Nemo has made so much amazing progress, we knew his person would be along soon and he would be in a perfect home.! Erica came in for a scheduled appointment, where Nemo was patiently waiting in our lobby. They fell head over heels for each other and she brought him home the same day!

Meet Diego!

Diego is a 5 month old male kitten who was found traveling outdoors with his mom. They spent some time over at Sunrise Center Animal Rescue getting the medical care they desperately needed and have since been transferred over to us healthy and ready for a new home! Bessie, Diego’s mom, has since been adopted and it’s Diego’s turn to find an indoor home with no outside adventures!

Meet Jack and Sally!

These two longer coat friends were living outside and initially trapped for a TNR, but actually are pretty friendly.

Sally is the spayed female Tortie and is about 1years old. She’s a typical Tortie and is super thin right now. We hope with some time off the streets and some tasty food she’ll gain some weight.

Jack is the solid black fluff neutered male and is about 6months old. He is definitely more outgoing than Sally and will likely quickly blossom in a home environment.

Jack and Sally do not have to be adopted together, but after a life on the streets of Halloween town, we would love if they were!

Meet Cookie!

Cookie is a 2yr old lab mix female who is ready to find herself a loving family.

Cookie and her brother Snickers were brought to us recently when they no longer had a place to call home. Cookie and Snickers are not bonded and can be adopted together or separate.

Cookie is definitely more shy than her brother and is currently recovering from her spay. We will post some updated photos when she ditches her cone next week unless of course she gets the pleasure of joining your family first!

Meet Snickers!

Snickers is a 2yr old male lab mix who will be neutered very soon!

The amount of dogs we’ve received lately from people moving or losing their home is heartbreaking. Snickers and his sister Cookie(who we will post tomorrow) were relinquished for this very reason.

In the short time we have had Snickers, we learned he is happy and friendly dude. Snickers has been keeping his kennel tidy and will sit on command. This gentleman has one request and it’s to get into a home soon, a forever one.
