Feline Leukemia: What Cat Parents Need to Know 🐾😿

Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) is one of the most serious infectious diseases in cats. At Animal Alley Vet, we want to help you keep your feline friends safe and healthy.

Here’s what you should know:
🧪 FeLV can suppress and weaken the immune system
😺 It’s spread primarily through close contact with an infected cat—especially among cats who groom or share food bowls
🩺 Regular testing and vaccination (when appropriate) are key prevention tools

Have questions about FeLV or whether your cat should be tested? We're here to help. Schedule a visit or call us at 989-792-4800.

☀️Heat Exhaustion Is a Real Danger for Pets ☀️

Warm weather means more outdoor fun — but it also puts your pets at risk for heat exhaustion and heatstroke, which can be life-threatening.

🚨 Watch for these signs of overheating:
❗ Excessive panting or drooling
❗ Weakness or stumbling
❗ Vomiting or collapse

Dogs and cats can’t cool down like we do, and short-nosed breeds, seniors, and overweight pets are especially at risk. Never leave pets in a car — even for a few minutes — and always provide shade and fresh water!
