After posting a pic of the female, figured the male needs some time in the spotlight!
It's always interesting when this one sheds.
My male Sulawesi black sailfin dragon (H. celebensis) seems to get a "teal" shine on his spikes and upper back.
It always stays this color for a couple of weeks post shed, then seems to revert to the "classic" black color.
Gotta enjoy it while I can!

If I ever reproduce offspring from him, it'd be interesting to see if this trait is heritable.

Was lucky enough to see the first pip get its first breath of air!
Always an exciting moment to catch them when they start to hatch!
Another clutch of Philippine sailfin dragons (Hydrosaurus pustulatus) entering the world!
Five eggs, and five beautiful babies!
Pairing was a 2022 F1 male produced by Ty Park bred to a gorgeous zoo stock female!
Beyond thankful seeing pure documented lineages being continued!

Female Sulawesi black sailfin dragon (Hydrosaurus celebensis) looking good!
I love her nose “crest”.
Hopefully one day I’ll reproduce this species in captivity. In my opinion, they’re tied with H. pustulatus for my favorite of the genus.

Finally! My first "true" 2026 hatch of pure, well documented Philippine sailfin dragons has emerged! Despite having hatched three clutches earlier this year, said clutches were from eggs laid/resulted from the end of my 2025 breeding season.
While this was a small clutch of two eggs, I was ecstatic as the sire to this clutch is the newest male who is officially climbing the ranks within the group of Philippines here! (and this boy has quite the nose crest already for his young age!)
Even more exciting is that these babies are completely unrelated to my holdbacks from last year, so now to see what can happen as these are raised up and eventually outcrossed to continue the work of keeping this rare agamid species pure (and with proper documentation/pedigree!)
Beyond thankful to be working with pure animals and continuing their legacy!

F”1.5”, 2017 USCBB, pure Philippine sailfin dragon produced by Jay’s Arboreals.
Very thankful to see his pure genetics being passed on!
