Something that’s cropped up today, and I think it’s worth talking about 👇

✨ There’s a big difference between validation and encouragement when it comes to self-harm.
They can look similar on the surface, but the intention and impact are very different.

🔹 Validation might sound like:
“I hear you. I can see how much you’re struggling right now.”
“If this is how you’re coping for the moment, that’s okay. In time, we can look at gentler ways together.”
➡️ This focuses on acknowledging feelings and removing shame.

🔹 Encouragement would sound like:
“You should keep doing this, it’s the best way to deal with your emotions.”
➡️ This frames self-harm as a recommended strategy — and that’s where harm is reinforced.

💡 The truth is:

Validation = safety, trust, and being heard.

Encouragement = risk of harm being endorsed.

By validating, we’re saying:
💬 “I see you. I’m here with you. You don’t need to hide this from me.”

That’s what creates the bridge towards more compassionate coping in the future.

🌱 For young people, this matters so much. Sometimes other adults in their lives may misinterpret what we say as ‘encouragement’—when in truth, it’s simply validation.

✨ And if you’re ethically able to provide this kind of response or intervention as a professional (including in equine settings), remember: it’s okay to say those validating words. They aren’t promoting harm. They’re creating safety, removing shame, and making room for healing conversations.

General Member Meeting!!! 9/9/25 at 5:30 at ELOP (Equine Lameness Prevention Organization) at 15860 CO-115 in Penrose behind
EDSS.
We will begin the meeting with a lecture by Jake Keller, farrier and head instructor at ELOP.
Jake will be using the classroom where he teaches the students that come to the school. He will have access to all the tools and videos that he uses in his presentations

🌿✨ New at Equine Elegance: Reins & Roots – A 6-Week Caregiver & Child Course ✨🌿

I’m excited to share that due to high demand, Equine Elegance will now be offering 6-week courses designed for both children and their parent/caregiver. This special program is built around custom-designed Reins & Roots workbooks from Equimotional, giving families the opportunity to grow, learn, and connect — together. 💜

📘 What’s Included:

A workbook for your child and a workbook for you, the caregiver

Weekly 2-hour sessions for 6 weeks

Engaging activities with the horses paired with hands-on lessons from the workbooks

A safe and supportive environment to strengthen communication, trust, and connection

🐴 Each week combines:
✔️ Guided horse-based activities
✔️ Reflection and goal setting
✔️ Tools for building confidence, resilience, and deeper relationships

💲 Program Fee: $300 per parent/child pair

We’ve all asked ourselves the “what if” questions.
💭 What if I’m not good enough?
💭 What if I could have done something differently?
💭 What if I’m holding myself back?

At Equine Elegance, we believe in rewriting the “what if” into something beautiful. Horses have this incredible gift — they never judge, never belittle, and never measure you against yesterday’s mistakes. They simply meet you where you are, reminding you that self-care, kindness to yourself, and forgiveness matter.

🌱 Instead of “What if I’m not enough?” try asking:
✨ What if I am more than enough?
✨ What if today I choose to forgive myself?

🐴✨ Volunteer Day Tomorrow! ✨🐴

Tomorrow is going to be such a wonderful day at Equine Elegance! 💕 We’ll be:

🧼 Giving some of our horses a refreshing bath
🧹 Cleaning up and organizing the arena setting up the roundpen
🍂 Getting everything ready for our Fall Camp
🏡 Beginning work on the old farmhouse to prepare for all of our amazing students arriving in just a couple of weeks!

We are so grateful for the helping hands and big hearts that come together to make Equine Elegance a beautiful and welcoming place. 💖 Every little bit of time, care, and energy makes a huge difference for our horses and students.

🌟 Exciting News from Equine Elegance! 🌟

We’re excited to announce that we’re exploring the start of an Equine Elegance Riding Club here in La Junta, CO! 🐴✨

The best part? We have access to an indoor arena so our shows, clinics, and events can be held year-round — no matter the weather!

✨ What the Riding Club will include:
• 🏆 Fun Shows with end-of-the-year awards
• 🌳 Trail Riding Adventures
• 🎯 Groundwork Clinics (confidence, communication, horsemanship)
• 🐎 Riding Classes & Challenges including:
• Dressage Tests
• Obstacle Courses
• Hunter Classes
• Rail Classes
• Jumping

This club will be a place for horse lovers of all ages and levels to connect, grow, and celebrate their progress in a fun and supportive environment.
