👉Friday, July 31st's Paw-some Pick is Detective Ruiz A0061275418!

Detective Ruiz came to us after their previous owner made the decision to surrender them due to them citing inadequate housing and having too many pets. Through no fault of their own, Detective Ruiz is now looking for a loving family and a place to call home.

While in our care, Detective Ruiz successfully completed a dog introduction with another dog here at the shelter, showing they can interact appropriately with canine companions. Every dog is unique, and we encourage adopters to bring any resident dogs along for a meet-and-greet to help ensure a good fit.

Now all Detective Ruiz needs is a second chance with a family who will provide love, stability, and plenty of happy memories. If you think Detective Ruiz could be the perfect addition to your home, stop by during our open adoption hours to meet them and all of the wonderful pets waiting for their forever families.🐱🐶✨

Eddie is a handsome 4-year-old, 11-pound cat who's ready to find the loving forever home he deserves.

Eddie came to Winnebago County Animal Services after being owner surrendered when his previous family shared that they no longer had enough time to dedicate to his care. Through no fault of his own, Eddie found himself looking for a new place to call home.

Now, Eddie is ready to begin his next chapter with a family who can provide him with the love, attention, and stability he deserves. At 4 years old, he’s past the kitten stage and ready to bring all the wonderful companionship that comes with having a mature feline friend in your life.

Whether he's lounging in a sunny spot, enjoying some quiet time, or soaking up attention from his favorite people, Eddie is hoping to find a family who will cherish him for years to come.

‼🎉ADOPTION UPDATE!🎉‼

❤Remember Cob & Anya (now Peanut)???❤

Both Cob and Peanut came to WCAS as tiny kittens with their respective litters—Cob in early June and Peanut in early May of this year. Since they were too young to stay at the shelter, they and their littermates spent some time growing up in a loving foster home until they were big enough to return to WCAS and begin their search for forever families.

Earlier this month, Cob and Peanut’s worlds collided in the best possible way—they were adopted into the same home! 🐾❤️

It’s clear these two have settled right in and are living their very best lives with their new family. We couldn’t be happier that their journeys brought them together and that they get to continue growing up side-by-side in a loving forever home.

Happy tails, Cob and Peanut! We’re so excited for all the adventures ahead. 🐱💕

🐾Hello! We recently adopted Cob & Anya (now Peanut). Cob is very snuggly and loves lots of attention from anyone willing to snuggle. Peanut is also very snuggly, although she prefers to sleep in her bed or anywhere cozy. At first they weren’t sure about each other but after a short few days, they have become best friends. They love running around playing with each other & having lots of wrestling matches followed by lots of naps. Thank you WCAS for helping us find our furry friends! We love them so much! ❤️ 🐾

KJ came to Winnebago County Animal Services after being owner surrendered due to a change in their previous owner's housing situation. Through no fault of their own, KJ suddenly found themselves searching for a new place to call home.

Now, KJ is looking for a family that will provide the love, stability, and lifelong commitment every pet deserves. At just 2 years old, KJ has many wonderful years ahead and is ready to become a cherished companion, whether that's lounging in a sunny window, curling up for a cozy nap, or simply spending quiet time with their favorite people.

Our dog kennels are currently at maximum capacity - we are urgently hoping to reunite these dogs with their families.

👉If you believe one of these dogs is yours, please call us at 815-319-4100 and one of our call takers can speak with you about next steps OR stop by our facility.

👉We're open today (Wednesday 7/29) until 5pm.

👉Some of these dogs are available for preselect adoption, which means that although the dog is still on their stray hold period and awaiting reclaim by their owner, an interested adopter is able to complete an adoption application and pay the fee to pre-select the animal for adoption. If the dog is not reclaimed, the adoption is finalized and the dog can go home as soon as they're spayed/neutered.

Darlene is a gentle 10-year-old, 54-pound sweetheart who's hoping her next chapter is one filled with love, comfort, and a family to call her own.

Darlene came to Winnebago County Animal Services as a stray and, despite every effort to reunite her with an owner, she was never reclaimed. While her past remains a mystery, what we've come to know during her time with us is that she's a calm, easygoing companion who deserves a soft place to land.

While in our care, Darlene successfully completed a dog introduction with another shelter dog. Staff noted that she initially chose to explore the play yard on her own, but when approached by the other dog, she greeted them appropriately with loose, relaxed body language. The two peacefully roamed the yard together on dropped leashes, and Darlene showed no signs of aggression or discomfort throughout the interaction.

As a senior dog, Darlene is ready to trade shelter life for the comforts of a loving home where she can enjoy leisurely walks, cozy naps, and plenty of affection. She may have a few years behind her, but she has so much love left to give to the family lucky enough to call her their own.

At just a year old, Mama has her whole life ahead of her. She's looking for a home where she can settle in, enjoy all the comforts of indoor life, and share her love with a family who will cherish her for years to come.

👉Monday, July 27th's Paw-some Pick is Journey Reign A0061226350!

This beautiful 7-year-old, 49-pound girl is looking for a fresh start after finding herself in the shelter through no fault of her own. Journey Reign originally came to us as a stray, and while her owner did come forward, they ultimately made the difficult decision to surrender her due to a loss of housing.

Despite the changes in her life, Journey Reign has remained a bright and engaging dog. She recently participated in a dog introduction with another female dog and showed great social skills. While Journey Reign had a bit more energy than her canine companion, she did an excellent job adjusting her play style and interactions to match the other dog's comfort level. Her ability to read social cues and adapt appropriately speaks to her friendly and well-mannered nature.

Journey Reign still has plenty of pep in her step and would love a family that can provide her with companionship, enrichment, and opportunities to stay active. At the same time, she has the maturity that comes with adulthood, making her a wonderful balance of fun and reliability.
