Hi my name is Kari and I offer boarding in my home for dogs with special needs and/or disabilities. My husband Matt and I have fostered 15 dogs through 11th Hour Rescue, ranging from feral puppies to our most recent foster Gemma. Gemma needed simultaneous bilateral FHO surgery requiring her to be separate from our dogs during her long recovery. We made our spare office room Gemma's room where we c
ould keep her comfortable and do her daily physical therapy exercises. Through the process of taking her to and from her weekly physical therapy appointments, I was offered a part time job as a canine physical rehabilitation aide a few hours a week. After Gemma was adopted we decided to keep her room just for dogs with special needs. Having two dogs of our own both on multiple medications and autoimmune compromised along with anxiety, we have found it incredibly hard to go away. In our search for boarding options, we realized Aggy and Burl would need a quiet place where someone with experience and understanding would care for them. This turned out to be a very difficult task. The idea for "The Special Needs Dog Room" was born. It is my passion to help dogs that have a little more of a struggle in life, not only for the dogs but also for the dedicated parents of special needs dogs that deserve a vacation or travel with true peace of mind.
