Good morning from little Frieda! Showing off her shy playful side š
Her story:
Introducing tiny treasure Frieda! A very special girl looking for a very special home ā¤ļø
Only 5lbs and 8 months old, she was one of several Maltese/Shih Tzus surrendered to a local shelter when an owner became overwhelmed with too many dogs due to lack of spay/neuter. She was the shyest of the group and hid from the other dogs and people in the shelter, so we were asked to take her in and sheās opening up quickly in her nice quiet foster home. Sheās starting to show her puppy playful side and enjoying cuddling, though still shy and army crawls over for attention. Sheās never been on a leash or outside and was used to wee wee pads so will take some patience getting used to the real world.
Her bloodwork did show elevated liver values, as did several of her siblingsā. Sheās had an extensive medical work up and we didnāt really get a definite answer, but without more invasive and potentially dangerous testing, a very mild case of congenital microvascular dysplasia seems to be most likely. Sheās not shown any clinical signs at all, and is on some medications to help support her liver and should be monitored closely. Itās possible they had all eaten some toxins or had some other liver damage but time will tell and we hope her values continue to improve as they already have.
