To Our Wonderful Clients,
Thank you for entrusting us with the care of your family members. I know it can not always be easy putting your faith in someone who, initially, is a stranger and you now have to trust them with your most prized possession. Our team’s mission statement is to improve the lives of our patients by advocating for their best care. We live that mission statement everyday by striving to do what’s best for our patients, whether that’s through preventative care or through euthanasia when their quality of life has irreversibly declined.
For many of us, veterinary medicine is not just a job or profession. It is a calling, a passion, a drive that we need to advocate and care for those without a voice.
Our team gets urinated and defecated on, bitten and scratched, and even gets a**l glands squirted on them by patients. We frequently deal with death multiple times a day. We have to push down those tears, compartmentalize, put on a happy face, and move on to the next appointment, as there is no time to actually grieve. Sometimes there is only so much the compartments can hold or too much emotional weight to bear and my colleagues either choose to leave veterinary medicine or decide to leave this world entirely.
At our core, those of us in veterinary medicine are caretakers and the needs of our patients and clients often come before our own, sometimes even to the detriment of our own health and well-being.
We get yelled at, emotionally blackmailed, and called money hungry by clients when all we want to do is what’s best for our patients. The majority of us are able to shake off this abuse, but some days are easier than others.
We choose every day to continue to be part of veterinary medicine because we care so passionately about our patients and clients. Every morning, our team chooses to dust off yesterday’s chaos and negativity, and fill our day with smiles, jokes, and laughter. We are so thankful for the clients who share in our jokes and laughter and for many of you that have become friends. Your kind words of appreciation make the hard days worth it and mean so much more than you know. We care more for you and your pets than we could ever put into words.
Thank you for your continued trust and support in our team at Fulton County Vet Clinic.
Sincerely,
Dr. Coston
