Here’s why we choose to feed dubias over other live foods.

Dubia roaches are high in protein and fat ( which helps support growth and muscle development for your reptile.)
The Dubia roaches are also a bit cleaner than crickets , and are generally a lot quieter.

Make sure you are always gut loading feeders when you bring them home .
Gut-loading is feeding nutritious foods to insects like Dubia roaches and crickets before offering them to your reptile. By providing quality of greens and vegetables, you help improve the nutritional value of those feeders and healthy feeders equal a healthy reptile!

Saltwater fish highlight :
Sargent Major Damsel : these damsels grow 8-9 inches in the wild but only stay about 6 inches in home aquariums, however, once adults they can get territorial. They are also beneficial to the home aquarium as they are omnivores that eat algae and small crustaceans 🦞.

Pineapple triggerfish : want to add some personality to your tank ? This fish can be a bit territorial and may nip smaller fish and can grow up to 24 inches . Watch as they grow older the colors will get way more vibrant! 🍍

Clown tang : a living peice of artwork with nice bold yellow and blue stripes , these fish are herbivores and they love to eat algae’s ! These fish reach 15 inches long and need a 100 gallon + aquarium as these guys love to swim around and are very active !

Plant shipment has just landed. 🛬🌱🌾

Don’t worry plants, are not as scary as everyone makes them seem. They make your tank look beautiful and more natural. They also help absorb nitrates out of the water (essentially helping you keep your water parameters correct naturally.) You definitely don’t need to be an expert to get started , as there are tons of beginner friendly plants!

Plant highlight

Crypt parvara - is one of the smallest of the Cryptocoryne species! Crypts spread through runners and makes a great plant for the front of your tank.

Madagascar lace - don’t worry these holes weren’t eaten by fish . This plant is known for its out of the ordinary pattern making it a rare and sought after plant !

Weeping moss - unlike most mosses this one naturally grows downward. just like most other mosses this will do best on a piece of driftwood or attached to a rock !🙂

HYGROPHILA PINNATIFIDA- did you know this plant can grow attracted to driftwood or rocks aswell as being planted ! The higher nutrients and lighting will actually make the leaves turn red and bronze colored .

Rummynose Tetra: One of the most eye catching SCHOOLING fish just arrived . These active little guys have a bright red nose and have such a big personality for such a small fish !

Starlight Bristlenose Pleco : These amazing armored catfish have a beautiful spotted pattern giving them the “starlight” name. These fish are nocturnal and will be more active once your aquarium lights go out !

Leopard ctenopoma: An African oddball with a beautiful spotted pattern and unique personality! These fish are ambush predators with a special body shape to help them hunt . They also have an upward facing moth to help catch things off of the surface, although they will catch small fish when they swim by ! These are definitely not your average community fish, so choose tank mates wisely, as fish like the rummynose tetra would definitely become a snack.

PREDATORY FISH HIGHLIGHT 😤🐠🫧

Xingu Pike Cichlid: A rare predatory fish from the rapids in Brazil! These fish are very intelligent and have bold personalities . Best kept in 125 gallon + as they get 10-14 inches !

Alligator gar : If you’re looking for one of the largest freshwater fish, these monsters can grow 4-6 feet in captivity but wild alligator gar can reach 8-10 feet! Once adults they will need 500gallons +😳 Alligator gar can breathe air which helps them survive in very stagnant waters.

Jardini arowana : If you’re looking for a true centerpiece for your aquarium, these beautiful fish can get 24 inches ! Make sure to have a secure lid as they are expert jumpers. Like some other special freshwater fish, Jardini have a specialized swim bladder to help them breathe air during dry seasons and while instagnant water !

Whites tree frogs are an arboreal and nocturnal species that are native to Australia and southern New Guinea. Tthey prefer a moist, forest environment, but can live in season dry or wet habitats. Whites teee frogs also range in colors from a light blue to an emerald green (like chameleons these frogs will also change a slight color depending on mood or environment!) These frogs can get up to 4.5 inches with a lifespan of 10-15 years . The main diet for these frogs consists of crickets , roaches or moths . While most tree frog species have vertical (cat like eyes), these dumpy frogs have horizontal pupils giving them a bigger field of vision to spot predators and hunt prey !

Fish Friday is back !
Stop on in at either location and check out this weeks newest fish ! 🐟🫧

White skirt tetras are a great schooling and social fish ! They will add a nice bright shimmering color to your aquarium. Did you know white skirt tetras are a color variety of the black skirt tetra!

If you’re looking to add more color to your livebearer tank, the red twinbar swordtails are perfect for you! Not only are they brightly colored, they are super active and hardy ! Males get the long double tail, while the females will stay much shorter.

Red platy are another great selection to add a pop of color to your tank. These fish are also very hardy and active.

Did you know neocariidina shrimp don’t go though a free swimming larvae stage, and actually hatch as mini versions of the adults? Red Orange Neocaridina Shrimp are little gems for your planted aquariums. They love grazing on biofilm and algae, and don’t grow bigger than 1-1.5 inches.

BABY BEARDIES ARE BACK🐉🥹 :

Baby bearded dragons need a special diet to help them grow and get all the nutrients possible! Baby’s need 80% bug diet and 20% greens. Once they become adults, it switches and they need 80% greens and 20% bugs! Greens can include collard and mustard greens. Don’t forget to dust your bugs with calcium powder 3-4 times weekly (adults only 1-2 ) Safe bugs include crickets and Dubia roaches ! Mealworms, wax worms and hornworms are an occasional snack should only be offered seldomly due to the fats and little to no protein. Remember, no bugs bigger than the space in between their eyes !

Reptile highlight ! Come on down and see our beautiful geckos and baby snakes 🥰🐍🦎

Crested geckos make amazing pets because of their unique personalities and are “low maintenance “ ( meaning you do not need to handle them daily or at all )! Cresties can live 10-15 years with good care . These geckos also have specialized toe pads to help them grip and climb many different surfaces.

Arctic hognose snakes are one of the most dramatic amongst them all , when “threatened “ (or offered food) they may hiss or flatten their necks to try to scare you off ! Hognoses are built for burrowing. Their upturned nose acts as a shovel to dig though soil or sand while searching for food !

Milk snakes are back ! .
milk snakes are very carious and active !these snakes are more active at evening and night time (nocturnal) . Despite their bright patterns these snakes mimic a venomous snake and do not have any venom at all .

Farlowella catfish are back ! This peaceful “twig” like fish is an awesome addition to any community tank. Farlowella catfish grow 6-10 inches depending on species ! 🪾🐟

Aldolfi corydoras are a fan favorite! They only grow 2 inches so they are perfect for those smaller community tanks (although they like to school in groups of 6+) and can gulp in air ! 🫧
