Part 2 training with distractions, my main focus is the border collie putting her in a down position... Shes doing great. Ill demand she stays in the down longer as she progresses, I want her confidence up and having fun. Great job.. teaching your dog a great recall sit and stay helps when the dog is really stimulated I can easily grab control of her and recall her if I chose to. Training should be fun and exciting for dog handler. Like I say always Happy Training

Dog parks can be a chaotic hot mess for committed owners and their dogs, So how do you prepare your dog for chaos of a dog park. .. Start training with lots of distractions...Know when your dog relaxes during the chaos to accept your command, it happens within seconds...I train my dogs with alot of distractions when I
Give a sit or down command, i want that dog to drop its but or get in the down position no matter what.
Reliability: Dogs do not automatically generalize skills. A dog that sits in a quiet living room may not sit when a squirrel runs past.Increases self-control: Gradual exposure teaches your dog to manage their impulses instead of reacting to every sight, sound, or smell.Prepares for the real world: It bridges the gap between controlled practice and unpredictable environments like parks or sidewalks. How to Do It CorrectlyStart small: Begin in a quiet area like a living room or empty yard before moving to busy places.Increase slowly: Add tiny challenges step-by-step, such as placing a toy further away before moving it closer.Use high-value rewards: Match the reward to how hard the distraction is. Chicken or a favorite game works better than dry kibble around other animals or people. For tips on how to get your dog to turn away from triggers and look back at you join me for part 2 tomorrow...

Rule #1 of Dog Training: Don’t give a command unless you can enforce it. 🛑🐕
We’ve all done it—shouting "Come!" from across the yard while your dog ignores you and keeps sniffing the grass.
Here’s the catch: Every time you issue a command without follow-through, you aren’t just failing to get the behavior—you’re actively teaching your dog that listening is optional.
Why Repeating Yourself Backfires
It turns cues into background noise: "Sit... sit... SIT!" dilutes the power of the word.
It teaches hesitation: Dogs learn nothing happens the first few times you say it.
It rewards distraction: If there's no guidance or consequence, whatever they're sniffing will always win.
The Fix: Say it once, make it happen.
Get close first: Don't yell commands from another room or across the yard.
Set up for success: Use a leash or long line so you can gently guide them if they ignore you.
Protect your words: If you aren't in a position to follow through, don't give the command.
One clear cue with follow-through is worth a hundred repeated commands. Keep your words meaningful! 🐾
Happy Training !

Treats aren't the answer to dog training. I want to teach a dog to listen to me not because the dog wants a snack, Treats are good for the introduction of commands. I personally get away from the treat giving as soon as the dog has a idea of the command. Why? I have found out over the years that the stronger the stimulation is the stronger the dogs reaction. Im the alpha at all times around the dogs. Quick example
Your walking your dog and here comes the stimulation could be a dog walker jogger etc your dog blows off your mark goes to pulling on the lead ... Your mark means nothing you cant raise kids with lollipops and cupcakes... Treats will only get you so far .... Happy Training
