There’s been a positive case of West Nile Virus in a horse in Fremont county. Use fly sheets/fly spray to protect your horses, and vaccinate for it if you haven’t already this year. While the vaccine does not 100% prevent the disease, it does alleviate the symptoms and improves chances of recovery.

As mentioned in our post earlier this week about EEE, summer and fall are the peak time for arbovirus infection as these diseases (which include Eastern Equine Encephalitis [EEE], West Nile Virus [WNV], Western Equine Encephalitis [WEE] and Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis [VEE]) are transmitted by several different species of mosquitoes and biting insects.

Let this graphic serve as a source of more information about West Nile Virus (WNV) as well as a reminder to keep your equines up to date on vaccinations with the guidance of your veterinarian to best protect your animals from infection.

We’ve been taking a Facebook break so we haven’t been the best about posting on here lately, but hoping this message reaches everyone!
We will be out of state August 13th through August 20th. There will still be services the 10th and 11th this week, we will do our very best to help everyone we can before we leave. Services will resume August 21st.

Which means…it's time to schedule your equine companion to receive their spring vaccinations!

If you are wondering what vaccinations your equine friend should receive, the answer is — There are no “one size fits all” vaccine recommendations. A veterinarian who knows your animal and your management system is your best resource to recommend what vaccines your equine should receive and with what frequency!

While vaccination does not prevent disease in all circumstances, a good immunization protocol minimizes the risk of infection and remains an essential component of responsible ownership. A vaccination appointment is also the perfect opportunity for a yearly check-up of your equine friend and a great way to catch any health concerns early.

If you have yet to contact your veterinarian about scheduling vaccinations, we encourage you to do it soon!

Dr. Hursh will be out of state starting this Friday, April 10th through next Tuesday, April 14th.

Spring is in the air! 🌸

With the weather warming up, now is the time to get your critters on flea/tick preventatives.
Fleas and ticks can carry deadly diseases, which is why prevention is important!
We have an online pharmacy now. Once you place an order and Dr. Hursh approves it, it will be shipped directly to your house.

We were called out to a dystocia and this ewe gave birth to twins, including this huge ram lamb! Luckily Dr. Hursh was able to get his presentation corrected and get him out. Luckily he was still alive and is doing well! 🤩
