The Horns to Halos team works to help dog owners fall back in love with their dogs. Bringing harmony back to walks, your home, and your life with your dog. If you struggle with a dog who pulls, barks, bites, chews, fights with other animals or people, we have the skills to help you. All trainers are certified and the owner if a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant. We work on everything from potty t

raining to severe aggression cases in either a group, private, day training, or board and train settings depending on what is best for you, your family, and your dog. We see clients in our facility and in their homes as well as via Zoom based on the need and want for each case. We are currently even working to expand our our self-paced online curriculum options.

Sometimes I really want cake, sometimes a drink, sometimes a hike in the woods. Their value changes based on the mood I am in and what is going on around me. This is also true for dogs!

Everyone has a different idea of what "well trained" is. We always ask our clients what are your goals for YOUR dog. We don't have to live with them everyday so why would we tell you how trained your dog "should" be? As long as they (and you) are not hurting others with their behavior good and bad doesn't exist behavior is just that. Behavior.

Wish your dog was better for handling or nail trims? Well this is an easy step you can work on without spending a ton of extra time on it. Make sure when you are working to touching those places their mouth is on a toy! We aren't trying to teach them to bite!

During your free consultation we give you some tips to help you start working on the behaviors you are seeing right away, then we work together to figure out what training plan would work best for you family. Do you have time to do homework? Do you need us to help you get the work done? How much support would you like? Everything is customized to help you hit your goals!

If you do a paid foundation lesson it comes with an enrichment plan, training plan, follow up homework and support, and you can put the money spent towards a full program at the end if you decide you want more lessons!

Just like humans when dogs are overly tired the number of bad behaviors they show increases. As owners we walk a fine line making sure they get enough sleep, mental and physical exercise, and down time. Sleep and mental stimulation are most overlooked especially with new dog owners!

Dogs and cats each have their own language and if they are living in the same house it is important that they learn how to speak the other ones language. Having a dog who wasn't very nice to cats living in a house with multiple cats can be possible IF you are willing to put in the work!

By teaching your puppy to carry a toy when they are excited it can help cut down on biting as well as chewing and stealing your things! During our Puppy Primary Program we work hard to teach your puppies to hold a toy so they don't practice rude puppy play or greetings with strangers!

Our Story

Horns to Halos stand on the belief that dogs are our family and we want to be able to help them live the best life possible with us. We work to help bring families together in harmony with a better understanding of each other. From training basic behaviors to help dogs join in on more family events, to helping return peace to the neighborhood walks, and peace to your home. We help with all these things and more.

Katherine Barger - Owner/Head Trainer

I am certified through the the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers. I have trained everything from the basics to the cases other trainers have turned down. Ever since I started training I have seen a huge need for a trainer and program that could help work on behavioral issues, in a way that doesn't have fall out for the dog and put into terms that everyone can understand. In order to maintain my certification I am required to attend continuing education classes throughout the year which helps me stay on the cutting edge of science based training methods. Helping owners bond with their dogs has always been important to me and I have learned that if I can find a sport or activity that humans can do with their dogs, not only is that bond made stronger, but the life of both parties are enhanced. I love the look on the owners' faces every time their dog overcomes their fear of a jump or accomplishes new trick.

I've always had a passion for animals and grew up wanting to be a k9 handler. However when I served in the Marine Corps I ended up on a different path but it still brought me back to training. I started working with dogs 6 years ago when I got my Shepard Duke. We completed all level of obedience, treibball, agility, and other fun off leash work. I wanted to learn more so I attended the Karen Pryor Academy completing it in 2013 and began working with Katie. I am currently attending Dognositics to continue my behavioral learning.

I have a passion for dog sports and fitness which let me to study massage techniques, strength building exercises, and stretching techniques and use them to help my dogs as well as my clients. I am a therapy dog trainer and hope that my therapy teams can bring the joy of dogs to people in need.

Lindsay Jones-Trainer

I have always loved animals, especially dogs, so when I started training and working with them in 2014, it just furthered my love of them and their abilities. My passion for training dogs is really driven by owners and how excited they get when the most “stubborn” dog learns that new trick, or the basic sit! I have 3 of my own dogs, and a mommy of a 2 year old human. This has really driven my passion to help families get the family dog they wish for and give everyone an understanding to communicate with their dog. A dog is never trained, it is always in training, they can always learn something new. That’s my mission, is to teach any dog a new trick!
