Happy Saturday, friends! ☀️

Long-time patient Boomer 💙 came in this morning to see Dr. Jaimes for his annual wellness exam, blood work, vaccines, nail trim, and some seasonal allergy itchiness (also a few selfies with his tech & a good old fashioned kiss attack 🥰!). His awesome dad also set him up with 6 months worth of Nexgard Plus for parasite prevention! 🎉

This big cutie named Bane came by to recheck an ear infection and aural hematoma with Dr. Jaimes and tech Brooke. He did such a good job during his exam and ear swab!

Hematomas in the ear flap occur when head shaking (usually due to an ear infection) breaks a blood vessel within the ear flap, causing it to partially or completely swell with blood. This condition is more common in dogs but can occur in cats as well. 🐱

Dr. Jaimes has been treating Bane's ears with ear packing, antibiotics, and prednisone, and they were much improved! 🎉

If your pet is showing signs of ear trouble (scratching at or shaking their ears, excessive ear discharge or debris, odor coming from the ears) bring them in ASAP for an exam!

Milo came by over the weekend to see Dr. Jaimes and tech Kierra for limping & to update his rabies vaccine. His smile was contagious & he was more interested in giving kisses than having his physical exam. 🥰

Happy Saturday from Chip, the happiest patient with the best head tilt! 🥰 Chip came in this morning for his annual wellness exam, blood work, and vaccines with Dr. Jaimes.

His mom also set him up with 6 months of prevention from heartworms, fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites. 🎉 He's ready for summer. ☀️

This miniature Schnauzer named Hunter came in to have a urine sample obtained for a urine culture test. Dr. Jaimes performed a cystocentesis using ultrasound to visualize Hunter's bladder and obtain a sterile sample directly with a syringe. Hunter did so well during the cysto, and his urine was sent off to the lab to be cultured! 🚚🧪

Urinary issues in dogs can manifest as:
•frequent urination
•straining to urinate
•blood in urine
•changes in urine color or odor

If your pet is having any of these symptoms, bring them in to see the vet ASAP and bring a urine sample with you if possible (or make sure they don't urinate right before their appointment so the doctor can get a sample)!

Jaxon came in this past weekend to see Dr. Jaimes and tech Brooke for limping. He was also overdue for his heartworm test and needed some parasite prevention.

During his physical exam, Dr. Jaimes found some swelling in his left front leg. He prescribed medication for pain and inflammation. We ran an in-house heartworm test (which was negative! 🎉) and prescribed him a month of Credelio Quattro to try. Now, he'll be protected against heartworms, fleas, ticks, roundworms, hookworms, and tapeworms! 🪱🚫

We hope his leg is feeling better already, and we'll see him back in 2 weeks to be sure!

Boomer & Lucy came in today to see Dr. Smothers for their annual wellness exams and lab work. Lucy also has a partially torn ACL, so they had a pain management discussion to see which medications will suit her best long term. ❤️‍🩹

A torn ACL (also known as a torn CCL in dogs) is a common knee injury that causes pain, lameness, and instability. Partial tears can be managed with limited activity and pain medication as advised by a doctor. However, a fully torn ACL oftentimes requires surgical repair. 👩‍⚕️

If your pet is limping, come in ASAP to have them checked out! ⏰️
