Little Red Barn Dog Rescue

Little Red Barn Dog Rescue We are a small rescue located in the heart of the Northwoods of Wisconsin! We are a federally recognized 501c3 EIN 84-4695525.

We strive to improve the lives of dogs in need until we locate their forever families. We assist with local surrenders, unclaimed strays, as well as transfer dogs out of shelters. We are county and state inspected through Barron County and the WDATCP; Dog Facility Operator Licsense #490092. As a nonprofit we operate primarily off of donations collected from supporters to provide our residents with

the very best in medical, enrichment, and care. Donations are used towards transportation fees, medical fees, and daily care needs. We serve our community by caring for local surrender dogs, as well as unclaimed stray dogs in need of a place to lay their head until their furever families comes! We assist many Southern rescues, shelters and animal controls by transferring their over-crowed dogs to our care. We began operations late January of 2020, and we are hoping to build our rescue to last! We are constantly evolving to provide our residents with every thing they may need to strive, learn, be happy and healthy.

551 reasons to be thankful this holiday season!

As 2025 comes to a close, we want to pause, take a breath, and reflect on what this year meant for Little Red Barn Dog Rescue.

This year, 477 dogs came into rescue with us — each one carrying a story, a need, and a chance.
We also provided initial vetting, vaccinations, preventatives, and transportation for 74 additional dogs headed to their receiving shelters and rescues.

That brings us to 551 dogs assisted through Little Red Barn Dog Rescue in 2025 alone.

But rescue isn’t only about the dogs who come through our doors.

This year, we delivered food to 32 families, helping keep beloved pets where they belong — with the people who love them. Thanks to incredible community generosity and support, over 6,000 pounds of dog and cat food was donated and delivered directly to homebound individuals and those facing financial struggle.

We co-hosted a Free Vaccination and Microchip Clinic with our friends at Beautiful Hearts Rescue, where hundreds of community pets were given vaccine and microchip protection in a single afternoon.

We also honored lives that had no one to claim them, providing dignity and cremation services for three dogs and one cat found deceased in our community. Even in death, they mattered. They were seen. They were loved.

Each year, the need grows heavier — more calls, more hardship, more heartbreak. And yet, we are still here. Still showing up. Still doing the work for as long as we are able.

As we move into the holidays, we want to gently share that messages will be limited unless there is an emergency. This time of year is one of the only opportunities we have to step back — to grieve the losses that stay with us, to celebrate the wins that carried us through, to breathe, and to spend much-needed time with our families and friends.

None of this — not one life saved, not one bowl filled, not one late-night emergency — happens without you.

To our fosters, who open their homes and hearts.
To our volunteers, who give their time, energy, and compassion.
To our community, both local and online.
To our local small businesses who stand beside us.

You are the reason this work continues.

This year marks 6 years of Little Red Barn Dog Rescue operations. In January, we will celebrate our anniversary and step into our 7th year — something we could never have imagined without this community behind us.

If you are in a position to give, end of the year donations make an enormous difference. They help us kick-start the New Year ready to respond, ready to help, and ready to keep going.

From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for believing in our mission, supporting us, and walking beside us through another demanding, beautiful, exhausting year.

We appreciate you more than words can ever say! 🥰🐾❤️

Today we are taking another "paws" to say a very heartfelt thank you to Beth (who again donated her time and skills,) to groom Siren and quite literally changed her world in a single afternoon.

When Siren came to us, her story was written in neglect — matted fur, discomfort, fear, and a body that carried the weight of what she had endured for years

The difference is staggering. Siren can see. She can move freely. She can feel gentle hands instead of pain.

Beth, your patience, compassion, and skill didn’t just make Siren beautiful on the outside — you helped her begin healing on the inside. That kind of care matters more than words can say.

This is why grooming is so much more than cosmetic in rescue. It’s medical. It’s emotional. It’s transformative.

From the bottom of our hearts —thank you, Beth, for being part of Siren’s journey forward. 🥰❤️🐾

**ADOPTED**
ADOPTABLES!

Meet CHAD & CHRIS — three month old Shih Tzu boys (born 9/15/2025) who look like sad Victorian orphans in photos but are, in reality, tiny gremlins fueled by joy, zoomies, and absolutely no thoughts- just impulses.

Yes, they look sad.
No, they are NOT sad.
They are thriving.

These boys are:
• Extremely happy
• Very fun-loving
• Constantly wiggling
• Professional toy assassins
• Masters of the Shih Tzu side-eye

Chad and Chris wake up every morning choosing chaos, cuddles, and crime (the crime is stealing your socks). They play hard, nap harder, and will absolutely act like they’ve never been fed before in their lives — even if they just ate.

They are sweet, social, silly little fluff nuggets who are ready to bring laughter, mess, and love into a furever home. If you want a quiet, dignified dog… keep scrolling.

If you want tiny clowns in fur suits- congratulations, you’ve found them.

Adoption fee are $500 and includes up to date (age appropriate) vaccinations for distemper/parvo, bordatella, microchip, certified vet inspection, and $100 refund of adoption fee once neutering is completed!

Why We Do What We Do ❤️

There are moments in rescue that remind us exactly why we keep going — even when it’s hard, exhausting, and heartbreaking.

Today is one of those moments.

We want to extend a huge, heartfelt thank you to Todd at Pet Supplies Plus - Rice Lake, WI for stepping in when we needed help removing Siren's chains. Todd broke out the snippers when we realized pliers were not going to take off Siren’s breeding collar — a collar that symbolized years of use, control, and sacrifice for human profit.

Siren is no longer a number.
She’s no longer “dog #234.”
She has a name.
She has people who care about her.
She will never carry the full weight of that collar again.
And she has a life ahead of her that belongs to her.

Siren has spent her life giving — producing, surviving, enduring — without choice. Today, that chapter closed. She’s currently getting groomed, feeling relief she’s likely never known, and soon we’ll begin the search for her forever home.

This is why we do what we do.
Not because it’s easy.
Not because it’s glamorous.
But because every single dog deserves to be seen, named, and loved.

Thank you, Todd, for being part of that moment. Thank you to our community for standing with us — for believing that rescue is about dignity, compassion, and second chances.

Siren’s story is just beginning, and we cant wait to share her post grooming photos 🥰💕🐾

🐾 🎄Santa, We’ve Been VERY Good(ish) This Year… Promise! 🎄🐾

At Little Red Barn Dog Rescue, our Christmas wishlist isn’t filled with fancy gadgets — it’s filled with the things that keep tails wagging, bellies full, and kennels clean.

Our pups are wishing for:
• Purina Dog Chow
• Purina ONE Dog Chow
• Purina Puppy Chow
• Gently used blankets & bedding
• Toys (because joy matters)
• Paper towels, bleach & disinfectant cleaner

And of course…
A generous sprinkle of holiday cheer, the kind that reminds us we’re not doing this alone.

Every donation, every shared post, every kind thought helps us care for dogs who didn’t ask for a hard start but deserve a beautiful future. You help us keep the lights on, the bowls full, and the love flowing.

From our dogs (and our tired-but-grateful humans) — thank you for being part of our rescue family this holiday season.
