We are reaching out to you with an urgent request. If your finances allow, we ask you to consider making a donation today-or forwarding this request to friends, families or neighbors who also value outdoor learning and education. We have three more weeks to raise the final $90k that will bring us into contract with the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District. And open the gate to public programs offered to Bay Area schools, senior centers, youth groups, equine-based therapy, and nature-inspired photography, art and writers workshops.

With the support of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, Friends of Bear Creek Stables will transform our historic stables property, leveraging the unique healing characteristics of horses. We will offer equine and nature-based experiences for people of all ages, abilities, and economic levels.

Friends of Bear Creek Stables invites you to join us at the Santa Clara Valley Bird Alliance’s October 4th Wildlife Fair at West Valley College-they are celebrating 100 years of building community and conservation! The Friends board members and volunteers have been out and around town at local faires, farmer’s markets and community events. This weekend, Sunday, August 17, we will be at the Alma Parking Area at the Bear Creek Redwoods Preserve from 1pm to 3pm. Stop by to find out more about the equine and nature-based programs we are developing for Bear Creek Stables - and visit with some horses from the stables. We hope to see you then!

Today we had a wonderful visit with Olivia Kramer at Bear Creek Stables. She is the Community Engagement and Program Manager for Youth Science Institute, YSI. We are looking forward to working with YSI this Fall to provide educational programs for our school age children.

Thanks to our collective efforts at Friends and help from all of our supporter we are getting closer to our Fund Raising Goal, $250,000. These monies will help us cover our expenses as we bring back a multitude of public programs over the next two years! At the same time, our partner, Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, has committed to spend over $6,000,000 to rebuild and expand Bear Creek Stables.
