🐾Kitten Update! 🐾

Our sweet kittens had their follow-up appointments this week, and we have a lot to share. 💕

✨ Opie(our 4-week-old tabby girl) did great at her check-up! Her front legs are still swollen with some sores and pus pockets in her wrists, so we’ve been advised to soak them in Epsom salt to help her heal. She’s eating like a champ and—drumroll—has started using the litter box! 🎉

✨ Zena, our brave 8 wk white and tabby kitten with the degloved chin, had her first surgery to connect her chin to her gums. She’s healing beautifully and will stay on meds to prevent infection. Sadly, her front leg is non-functional and will need to be amputated. Despite it all, she has become the biggest lovebug and rolls over for belly rubs! 💗 We would be so grateful for any donations to help with her upcoming surgery.

✨ And sweet little 8 wk tuxedo Dee Que, is still healing from head traumaand broken ribs. She continues to walk in circles, which the vet believes could be from her broken ribs. But something that really worries us—she doesn’t turn her head when we talk to her, even though she knows when someone enters the room. It may be reaction to her head trauma, time will tell. She just finished her meds and will go back for a recheck and vaccinations in a couple of weeks. The good news? She’s now eating on her own and using the litter box! 😀

We are incredibly grateful for the special care of Blue Pearl and the Vet on Main this past week. ❤️

We’re so proud of how far each of these babies has come, but they still have a long road ahead. If you’re able to donate toward their care and upcoming procedures, we would be incredibly thankful. Every dollar helps! Donations can be sent to Berks Cats in Crisis, PO Box 723, Reading PA 19607 or paypal.me/berkscatsincrisis.

Thank you for loving and supporting these little fighters. 💕

Our Sweet Chai Has Earned Her Wings

It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we share the news that our precious hospice foster cat, Chai, has passed away.

Chai was with us for 20 unforgettable months through our Hospice Angel Program, and in that time, she became so much more than a foster—she became family. This tiny girl had a way of lighting up every room she entered. She had the softest soul, the gentlest presence, and a heart that seemed to know nothing but love.

Chai didn’t just live with us—she *loved* with us. Every slow blink, every purr, every cuddle reminded us how deeply animals can connect when they're simply given a chance to feel safe.

We’re incredibly grateful we could give her a final chapter filled with comfort, dignity, and all the love she so richly deserved. Chai spent her last days wrapped in warmth, surrounded by people who adored her, and knowing—truly knowing—that she mattered.

To everyone who cheered her on, sent love, sponsored her care, or simply kept her in your heart—thank you. You were part of her journey, and she felt that love. We felt it too. 💕

Run free now, sweet Chai Chai. You were deeply loved, and you will always be missed.

Urgent Help Needed — Meet Dee Que

Yesterday, we got a heartbreaking call from the local emergency vet. A tiny 8-week-old kitten had been brought in from a nearby quarry after becoming trapped in heavy equipment. She arrived with severe head trauma, broken ribs, and painful abrasions.

The veterinary team worked quickly to stabilize her, placing her in an oxygen tank and keeping her overnight in intensive care. This morning, we were able to bring her into our program.

We’ve named her Dee Que, after the quarry she came from — and she is already showing signs of the fighter she is. While the trauma has caused her to circle to the right and she hasn’t yet eaten on her own, she is hungry and taking food through hand-feeding. She wants to live — and we want to give her that chance.

Please consider making a donation toward Dee Que’s medical care. Every contribution — no matter the size — will go directly to giving her the best possible chance at life and healing.

Donations can be made to Berks Cats in Crisis, PO Box 723, Reading PA 19607 or paypal.me/berkscatsincrisis.

Thank you for your compassion, your generosity, and your continued belief in the work we do. Dee Que’s life matters. Thank you to the employee who rushed her for treatment, Blue Pearl for their amazing care and YOU our supporters for allowing us to help this stray kitten! 🧡🐾

Opie Update 🐾❤️

It’s been 24 hours since little Opie came into our care, and what a tiny warrior she is! Despite both front legs being swollen and covered in open wounds from her injuries, this sweet 4-week-old girl isn’t letting anything slow her down.

She’s full of s***k, chatting up a storm and letting us know exactly what’s on her mind. Her personality is already shining through—so full of life and love. 🥰

Opie has been eating well, snuggling with her favorite warm “foxy,” and is on medications to help those little legs heal. We’re giving her all the love and care she deserves.

A huge thank you to our friends at Blue Pearl for their amazing care and to Pawsitive Hearts Pet Therapy and Rescue, Inc. for trusting us with this precious soul. 💙

Stay tuned for more updates on Opie’s journey—we’re already so in love! ❤️

Update - Thank you to Debbie Dreisbach for volunteering to foster this baby for us while she recovers. We work together with Berks Cats in Crisis regularly and greatly appreciate the work BCIC / Debbie does!!!

This little girl was found at a Reading area nonprofit last night. She’s at Blue Pearl right now. We have named her Opie (thought she was a boy initially). She has some wounds and will need someone to take care of her to nurse her back to health. We didn’t get an estimate for her treatment yet but our emergency vet fund is extremely low. If you can help with her care - either by taking her in or contributing - it will be appreciated!!!

She’s around 4 to 5 weeks old. She has a long (probably not easy) road ahead of her but we want to save her if possible!!!

Donate to her care at https://www.pawsitiveheartspa.org/donations

If you are able to foster her please direct message.

**Meet Xena: A Little Warrior with a Big Heart **

We recently received an urgent call from Blue Pearl about a tiny stray kitten who needed immediate medical attention. Believed to have fallen from a moving car, this 6 to 8-week-old baby was found lying on the side of the road—barely moving—until a kind passerby saw her lift her head and rushed her to safety.

This brave little kitten, now named Xena, suffered a degloved chin and a non-functioning front leg. X-rays thankfully showed no fractures, but she required surgery to repair the severe injury to her face. We’re closely monitoring her leg, and a reevaluation will guide us on the next steps.

She has been receiving meds, rest, and endless cuddles. And then... she purred. 💕 That tiny sound reminded us exactly *why* we do what we do.

We are so grateful to help cats like Xena—but we can’t do it without your support. Donations are needed to cover her treatment and recovery. Please consider making a donation to help Xena. Every dollar truly makes a difference. Donations can be made to Berks Cats in Crisis PO Box 723 Reading PA 19607 or paypal.me/berkscatsincrisis.

Thank you for being a part of her journey. Together, we can give Xena a life she deserves.

This July, help us shower the sick and injured cats and kittens of Berks Cats in Crisis! The items on our shower registries are essential to helping our kitties heal in foster care. For example, we are urgently in need of small refrigerators that allow fosters to keep cats' medications close at hand, as well as playpens where cats can recover comfortably.

Donations to our emergency veterinary care fund are always needed and can be made by paypal and check. Help us say "yes" to funding requests for critically sick and injured stray and feral cats' veterinary care by making a donation today! Your donation of $10 = 1 microchip, $25 = food for 1 week, $50 = 1 follow up vet visit, $100 = spay/neuter + vaccines for 1 cat.

After kittens like Sarge receive veterinary care, we work hard to ensure they have a foster home where they can recover and heal. Whether they are fostered by their finder or by a volunteer (often from a partner rescue organization), we provide fosters with any supplies they need so that they can focus on providing the loving care each cat deserves.

Please help us celebrate our kitten shower by purchasing an item from one of our registries or making a donation of any amount to our veterinary care fund! Thank you for your support!
