A few weeks ago, a tiny, severely emaciated cat was found clinging to life at a local trash company. Weak, skeletal, and barely hanging on, she had clearly been through more than any living soul should endure. But one compassionate rescue person couldn’t turn their back on her. (Thanks Lisa!) They scooped her up gently and reached out to us. She named her Agnes.
We immediately sprang into action, arranging for urgent care with our vet. Agnes received immediate medical support, and most importantly—hope. She was sent home to rest, recover, and regain her strength. Day by day, Agnes became a little bit better.
Now, just a few weeks later, this brave little survivor is strong enough to undergo her spay surgery—scheduled for this Friday. This is a huge milestone in her journey, and we’re reaching out to you, our compassionate community, to help us cross the finish line. We’re asking for sponsors to help cover the cost of Agnes’ surgery.
Donations of any amount are deeply appreciated and go directly toward her care. Every dollar brings her one step closer to her forever home.
And here’s the beautiful twist to her story... 💖
The vet tech who helped care for Agnes couldn’t stop thinking about her. That same evening, she went home and told her boyfriend—who, believe it or not, also works at a trash company—about the little fighter she met. He immediately felt a connection and has since stepped forward, ready to give Agnes the loving home she’s always deserved.
From being discarded and nearly forgotten, to being rescued, healed, and soon-to-be adopted!
Let’s get Agnes “fixed up” and help her step into the next chapter of her life—one filled with warmth, full bellies, and love. 🐾❤️ Please sponsor Agnes today. Because every life matters.

Sarge Update 🐾❤️
We wanted to share an update on our brave little fighter, Sarge — the sweet kitty rescued by police at the park. Yesterday, Sarge underwent surgery, and we're relieved and grateful to say that everything went well.
Sarge is resting comfortably and beginning his road to recovery. He will need a couple more weeks of healing and care, but his spirit is strong.
We are incredibly thankful to Dr. Fry and our amazing friends at The Vet on Main for their compassion, expertise, and the exceptional care they've given Sarge every step of the way. We truly couldn't do this without them.
We are also reaching out to our community friends, donations are very much needed to help cover the cost of Sarge’s surgery and ongoing care. If you're able to give, no matter the amount, it makes a real difference. Please consider making a donation to support Sarge and others like him in our program. Donations can be made to Berks Cats in Crisis PO Box 723, Reading PA 19607 or paypal.me/berkscatsincrisis. THANK YOU for your continued love, kindness, and support. More updates on Sarge to follow!

When I answered the phone, I never expected to hear a police officer on the other end. He had just rescued a tiny kitten from a group of kids at a local park. The kitten was injured and clearly missing an eye. Without hesitation, I directed him to BluePearl Emergency Vet.

Once there, the medical team discovered that the kitten’s left eye had ruptured, while the right was severely infected. He was also malnourished, dehydrated, and in critical need of care. The team acted fast administering fluids, running tests, and beginning immediate treatment.

Thanks to their special care, we were able to bring him home. Despite everything he’s been through, he wasted no time making himself comfortable in his new space. The emergency staff gave him a fitting name: Sarge, in honor of the officer who stepped in to save him.

Today, we followed up with our vet. The good news? Sarge is stable. The challenging news? He still needs surgery to remove his one eye. If he gains enough weight in the next two weeks, the procedure can be scheduled.

Sarge may be small, but he’s full of spirit. We’re committed to giving him the life he deserves, but we need your help. We're currently seeking sponsors to help cover the cost of Sarge’s upcoming surgery and ongoing care.

If you’d like to support Sarge, donations can be sent directly to Berks Cats in Crisis, PO Box 723 Reading PA 19607 or paypal.me/berkscatsincrisis. Every little bit helps, and we are deeply grateful for your compassion.

Thank you for helping Sarge! ❤️

Back in March, BCIC received an urgent call — a cat had been attacked by two dogs and needed immediate help. Liam was rushed to the emergency vet, where he received treatment for multiple wounds. Thankfully, he pulled through and continued his recovery with us at BCIC.
Our amazing friends at Pawsitive Hearts Rescue stepped in and found a foster home for Liam — one of their most experienced and loving fosters. We were thrilled, knowing he’d be showered with the attention and care he needed to heal both physically and emotionally.
Today, Liam is doing much better! His wounds have fully healed, and he's slowly learning to trust again.
Liam is still searching for his forever home. He would thrive in a quiet home with no dogs, where someone patient can give him the time and space to come out of his shell. If you’re interested in adopting Liam and giving him the loving home he deserves, please reach out to our friends at Pawsitive Hearts Rescue. Let’s help Liam find the loving home he’s been waiting for.

This sweet black kitty was found in Bernville with an injured tail and in need of care. Thankfully, a kind- hearted person stepped in and reached out for help.
Thanks to our amazing friends at Bernville Vet, Jynx received the care he needed. His tail was treated, parasites were taken care of, he was neutered, and received all his vaccinations.
The finders, who gave him the name Jynx, stayed by his side through his recovery. Along the way, Jynx bonded with their other pets and quickly became a part of the family. It turns out, Jynx picked his forever home all by himself! Congratulations, Jynx, on finding your happily ever after!
A huge THANK YOU to:
The compassionate person who didn’t turn away and made sure Jynx got help.
The dedicated vets and staff at Bernville for their expert care. And most importantly, to our sponsors and donors—your continued support makes stories like Jynx's possible. ❤️ Because of YOU, injured cats like Jynx get a second chance.

When the Emergency Vet Calls, You Know It’s Serious.

We got one of those calls this weekend — the kind that makes everything else stop. Even though the vet on the other end was trained and composed, we could hear the desperation in her voice.

A cat named George had just been brought in, and he was in critical condition. His neck was cut so deeply, the wound hung open. And yet… George purred. He rubbed his head gently against the vet’s hand, seeking comfort, affection — love — in the midst of his pain.

The team explained that George would need immediate, intensive surgery to survive. And because of the support from people like you, we were able to say yes. Yes to saving his life. Yes to giving him a second chance.

We’re relieved and overjoyed to share that George’s surgery went well. He is now resting in recovery, surrounded by care and kindness. Even more heartwarming — the compassionate people who found George have offered to foster him through his healing journey. We are so incredibly grateful.

This is why we do what we do. This is why your support matters.

Because of you, we’re a program emergency vets can call when a life is hanging in the balance.

Please consider donating to help George and other cats who need us the most. Every dollar helps us say yes the next time the phone rings.

Donations can be made to Berks Cats in Crisis, PO Box 723, Reading PA 19607 or paypal.me/berkscatsincrisis. ❤️ Thank you for being part of their rescue story.

Earlier this week, concerned neighbors discovered a sickly cat seeking refuge in their yard. Weak and clearly in distress, they knew he needed help—and fast. Without hesitation, they turned to social media for assistance, and that's when we at BCIC were tagged and contacted.

We stepped in immediately and made arrangements for this sweet boy to be seen by the vet. Upon examination, he was found to be suffering from a severe upper respiratory infection, was dangerously dehydrated, and had striking copper-colored eyes that—though beautiful—raised concern among the veterinary team. These unusual eyes, combined with his symptoms, suggested the possibility of a liver shunt, a serious and potentially life-threatening condition.

To confirm the diagnosis, Pretty needed to undergo specialized testing, which required fasting and close monitoring. Right now, we are anxiously awaiting the results, hoping for good news and preparing for the next steps in his treatment.

They named him Pretty—because even in his frail state, there’s something undeniably lovely about his spirit.

💛 If you’d like to help cover Pretty’s medical expenses, donations can be made to Berks Cats in Crisis, PO Box 723 Reading PA 19607 or paypal.me/berkscatsincrisis. Every dollar helps us continue to rescue animals like Pretty who have no one else to turn to.

Thank you for your compassion and support. Together, we can give Pretty the second chance he so desperately deserves.

Community Comes Together to Save Kittens Just in Time

With storms on the horizon, neighbors grew concerned when they spotted a momma cat carrying her two tiny kittens toward a storm drain. Fearing for their safety, they quickly contacted local authorities. The fire department responded and helped remove the drain covers—but the momma cat, protective and scared, moved her babies deeper beneath the road.

The next day, to everyone’s surprise and relief, she brought the kittens back out. That’s when the community sprang into action. With patience and care, they were able to safely secure the little kittens just before the next round of storms rolled in.

Thanks to the quick thinking and compassion of the neighborhood, these sweet kittens are now safe. We were able to provide kitten milk replacer (KMR) and food right away—thankfully, we had supplies on hand thanks to our amazing sponsors and everyone who has contributed to our Amazon Wishlist.

So far, there are no visible injuries, but the kittens will be checked by a vet this week to be sure. Momma cat will be spayed next week as well.

This rescue is a shining example of what can happen when a community comes together with love and compassion. Thank you to everyone who stepped in to help these babies—and to all who continue to support our program. We couldn’t do it without you! ❤️
