🐾 Meet Lavender, a sweet female Brittany Spaniel who came to us after vomiting and passing pieces of candy wrappers at home.

💉 Given her history of prior abdominal surgery and continued GI upset, diagnostics including a barium series and bloodwork raised concern for a small intestinal foreign body, especially near an area of known scar tissue. See below a photo of the barium study x-rays and how they appear to us.

🩺 Lavender underwent surgery, where an enterotomy (an abdominal incision to explore the intestines) successfully removed multiple Milky Way candy wrappers lodged at the ileocecal junction. She tolerated anesthesia well, and her intestinal incision was carefully closed to support healing.

💕 Lavender has since gone home and is doing well, eating as directed and being closely monitored by her family as she continues to recover comfortably.

🌿 Preventative Tip: Dogs are curious eaters — keeping wrappers, fabric, and small objects securely out of reach and seeking prompt care for vomiting can help prevent serious intestinal obstructions.

If* you’re a blog reader, and your vet asked you what things you’d like to read in a blog from them, what would they be? 🩺💚

Is it a post about seasonal allergies? Or maybe about parasite prevention in your farm animals? We want to be your resource for helpful information, and information you can trust to be accurate. 🐶🐱🐰

Our building is full of knowledgeable people and some even more on specific niche topics. Check out our blogs for large animal and small animal on our website coming in June, and check into our Ask Dr. Kitty Boy Blog for monthly updates about clinic changes, and hot topics. 🐾

Today we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and selflessness will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

Wishing everyone a meaningful Memorial Day as we reflect on the cost of our freedom.

We had one of those system updates this morning. Do they ever work perfect the first time? Asking for a friend.

Our team of tech is working on resolving the issues now but please, bear with our team. They are all working hard to continue operations as normal as they can but it may take them a little longer today. We currently do not have an eta on the system running at full capacity but will update as we know more! Hopefully with this major update we won’t have another anytime soon 💚

🐾 It’s time to paws and celebrate! Join us in wishing our first birthday twins, Emma and Rae a very Happy Birthday! Thank you for helping keep tails wagging and bringing so much care and compassion to our clinic each day. Emma has grown kennels, reception and now helping with urgent care appointments and Rae has not only helped our reception team with her call center experience, but has also helped us in streamlining our inventory systems. They have both helped make many advancements throughout our building.

Hope your day is purr-fect! 🎉🐶🐱

They say you can't buy love, but you can certainly rescue it! Today we’re celebrating National Rescue Dog Day—a day dedicated to the millions of amazing dogs waiting in shelters for their forever homes. 🏠❤️

Whether they came into your life as a puppy or a senior, rescue dogs have a unique way of filling a home with gratitude and wagging tails. To all the rescue parents out there: thank you for giving these pups a second chance at life!

How you can celebrate today:
• Share your story: Post a photo of your rescue pup and tag us! We’d love to see those happy faces.
• Advocate: Remind friends and family about the benefits of adopting.
• Support: Consider donating supplies or time to a local shelter.

Adopt, don’t shop! Every rescue dog has a story—thank you for making yours a happy one. 🐕✨
