🐾 Did you know that vets treat over 200,000 pet choking incidents every single year?
Today is National Pet Choking Prevention Day (June 22nd), and it’s the perfect reminder that our furry family members love to explore the world with their mouths—sometimes with things they shouldn't! 😱

Most of these accidents are 100% preventable. Here are 4 quick ways to pet-proof your home today:
1️⃣ Size Matters: Make sure all balls and toys are wider than your dog’s jaw. If it can fit completely inside their mouth, it’s too small!
2️⃣ The "Unattended" Rule: If you have to leave the house, pick up the bully sticks, chews, or puzzle toys. Always supervise active chewing!
3️⃣ Watch the Strings: Cats love them, but yarn, string, dental floss, and window blind cords are major hazards that can easily catch in their throats.
4️⃣ Ditch the Splinters: Avoid giving cooked bones or treats that can easily snap or splinter into sharp, choking hazards.

Let’s keep our pets safe and happy. Share this post to protect a furry friend today! ❤️🐕🐈

They might not speak the same language, but the bond is undeniable. Happy Father’s Day to all the Pet Dads who know that family isn't just about DNA—it's about who greets you at the door with a wagging tail or a loud purr. 🐾
From the late-night walks to the endless belly rubs, thanks for being the best provider of treats and head scratches. You’re doing a great job, Dad!

☀️ Paws & Sunshine: Happy First Day of Summer! 🐾

The sun is out, the tongues are out! Today marks the official start of summer. While we’re all excited for beach trips and backyard BBQs, the rising temperatures mean we need to take extra care of our furry best friends.

Here are 4 quick tips to keep your pet safe and cool this season:

• The 5-Second Rule: Place the back of your hand on the pavement. If you can't hold it there for 5 seconds, it's too hot for paws! Stick to grass or walk during the early morning/late evening.

• Hydration is Key: Always carry a portable water bowl. If you’re thirsty, they’re likely parched!

• Never Leave Pets in Cars: Even with the windows cracked, a car can turn into an oven in minutes. Leave them home in the AC where it's safe.

• Know the Signs: Heavy panting, glazed eyes, or rapid pulse can be signs of heatstroke. If you see these, get them to a cool area and call your vet immediately.

Let’s make this the best (and safest) summer yet! 🍦🐶🐱

🎆While we enjoy the warm weather and sunshine, there’s one thing sticking its nose out from around the corner. 4th of July! We hear clients tell us all the time how much their pets hate the fireworks, and thunder, and loud noises. We have things that can help! Call us and talk about it with our team and if you need to get your pet seen for a yearly wellness, we can do that too before the 4th! Let’s keep those critters happy and blissful during the celebrations this year! 🎇

☀️ Summer Safety Tips for Pets 🐾

Keep your furry friends safe when the temperatures rise!

🐶🐱 DO:
✅ Provide fresh, cool water at all times.
✅ Offer shaded rest areas outdoors.
✅ Walk dogs early morning or late evening when it’s cooler.
✅ Keep pets indoors during peak heat hours (10 a.m.–4 p.m.).
✅ Use pet-safe sunscreen on light-skinned or short-haired pets.

🚫 DON’T:
❌ Leave pets in a parked car — even for a few minutes! Temperatures can skyrocket in seconds.
❌ Walk pets on hot pavement — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.
❌ Shave double-coated pets; their fur helps regulate temperature.
❌ Skip grooming — mats can trap heat and moisture.

⚠️ Watch for signs of heat stress:
• Heavy panting
• Drooling
• Weakness or collapse
• Vomiting or diarrhea

If you notice these signs, move your pet to a cool area and call your vet immediately.

☀️ Keep summer fun and safe — your pets depend on you!

We all know the bridge is rough on a good day. Today we have been notified of an accident that the bridge is currently shut down and they are redirecting traffic. Our staff was unable to get through before this all happened, so some staff is at the clinic and some is not. We will make what ever work, but please note if you had an appointment this morning and can’t make it, please text the clinic and we will reschedule as best we can and your deposit will not be affected.

Be patient with our staff, and join us in sending positive vibes, prayers, or what ever you can for the individuals affected. Please stay out of the area and allow emergency services to work.

Happy work anniversary to these two! Jaedyn started as a low man on the totem pole and has moved up, continuing to grow and extend her training. Nathan is primarily in our large animal building and has picked that as his specialty, his favorite animals? Pigs! 🐷

Join me in thanking them for their dedication and celebrating them both today! 💚
