Plumas County Animal Services Plumas County Animal Services, a department of Plumas County (CA) Sheriff's Office, is the animal control offices for our county.

We deal with domestic animals. Please call the shelter at 530-283-3673 to make an appointment. Animal Control Officers can be called out to the field for animal emergencies, so the office is subject to temporary closures with little notice. If you have an animal emergency (dog attack, etc.,) please call PCSO dispatch at 530-283-6300 to have an animal control officer dispatched. Social media accoun

While messages will be responded to, inquiries of interest in adopting a specific animal should be called in to the shelter, not sent to social media. Adoption fees are $10 for cats and dogs. Unaltered puppies and kittens require a refundable spay/neuter deposit. Dog licensing fees for Plumas County are $15 per year. The City of Portola handles their own licensing. Dozer is still available and eager to find his new home. He’s an energetic & friendly boy who loves walks and playing ball (though he’s better at fetching than returning the ball!). Athena is still available and has so much love to share with her future family! She gets along with everyone, including kittens!
