All dogs have their own unique personalities, and that’s one of the reasons we love them so much! 🐾

We don’t want to know what breed your dog is—we want to know what makes them them!

Do they carry around a favorite toy 24/7?
Do they “talk” back when you tell them no?
Do they have the zoomies every night at exactly 8 PM?
Do they think they’re a lap dog even though they weigh 100 pounds?

Treats are a great tool for teaching a dog a new command, but they shouldn’t be something your dog depends on forever.

If your dog only listens when they see the treat bag, then they’re responding to the food—not necessarily the command.

As training progresses, treats should be faded out and replaced with what many dogs value even more: physical affection, praise, and engagement with their person. A happy “good dog,” a scratch behind the ears, or a quick play session can go a long way in building a relationship where your dog wants to listen because they trust and enjoy working with you.

Use treats to teach the behavior. Use your relationship to maintain it. ❤️🐾
