😛 Fun Fact Friday! 😛
Did you know your cat’s tongue is covered in hundreds of tiny, backward-facing hooks called papillae? These little barbs are made of keratin — the same stuff as human fingernails!

They help cats catch loose fur on their body, remove meat from bones in the wild, and even help them drink water in a super-efficient way (they curl their tongue backward to pull water up in a column!). And remember, cats don't groom themselves, they lick themselves. Just because you lick a bowl clean, doesn't mean it's clean! 😛

So next time your kitty gives you a lick, remember — that sandpaper feel is a sign of some seriously cool anatomy! 🐾💛 Another cool fact about keratin production to come next week!

🐻✨ From fluffballs to teddy bears! These 3 handsome Ragdoll boys came in for a 1/2” comb cut (aka plush or teddy bear cut) — the perfect compromise for less shedding without shaving to the skin.

They come every 4 weeks, so their coats were already in great shape — they received a trim, 3-lather bath, blow dry, cleanup and comb out… and voilà!

We filled almost an entire kitchen trash bag with fur 😳🫢 That’s a LOT of fluff!
But just look at these plush boys now 😍🐾 Mom and her boys are all very happy!

🐾 Meet the Cats Monday! 🐾
Say hello to Fredo and Sonny — affectionately known around here as “The Gangsters.” 😸 Can you guess which movie their names come from? (Hint: it’s a classic!)

These two definitely look like brothers — the resemblance is uncanny! They’re total food lovers and perfectly live up to their names. Fredo is the more reserved of the two — I like to call him “A-Fredo” — while Sonny’s the bold, outgoing one.

Have you noticed that in multi-cat families, there’s always one shy sibling and one social butterfly? We see it with almost every pair that stays with us at My Cat Nap Cottage! 💛

That’s why our spacious suites are designed with both personalities in mind — offering cozy hiding spots and plenty of places to climb and explore. The best of both worlds! 🏡🐾

✨ Meet the Cat Monday ✨

Say hello to sweet Zoey — she’s 20 years young! 🐾

Zoey can be a little picky with her meals, but she prefers to snack overnight like many of the cats that stay with us. 🌙 Her absolute favorite thing in the world? Her brush! She’ll happily groom herself — just place the brush next to her and she’ll take it from there. 💅

At My Cat Nap Cottage, her favorite spot is the cozy cubby in the cat tree. Even with a little arthritis, Zoey still hops up and down like a pro to get to her happy place. She’s been visiting us many times now, and we love that she always starts purring the moment she sees us. 💖

We’ve found that senior kitties often do wonderfully when they start boarding with us — maybe it’s all that worldly experience and wisdom that helps them settle right in. 😻 With our experience in the veterinary field we know how to keep your feline friends safe and healthy (and medicated if needed 😉)

Fun Fact Friday

Did you know Maine C***s mature more slowly than other cats. Unlike most cats, they don’t reach full size until they’re about 3–5 years old. Khaleesi here is only 2.5 years old so she’s got a little more to go!

🐾 Wellness Tip Wednesday — Part 2: Matting in Cats 🐾

Never cut mats out with scissors — no matter how careful you think you’re being. ✂️🚫

In the photo we’re sharing today, you’ll see a shaved area where a groomer uncovered cuts left behind from an owner who tried to cut mats out themselves. This is sadly very common, and a big reason we always recommend leaving mat removal to the professionals.

Here’s why:
✔️ Cat skin is much thinner and more delicate than it looks.
✔️ Mats form tightly against the skin, often closer than you realize.
✔️ A quick snip can easily turn into a painful and serious injury.

Professional groomers have the right tools and training to safely remove mats without harming your kitty. 💛 If your cat develops mats, the safest step is always to schedule a grooming appointment.

Your cat will thank you for keeping them safe, comfortable, and mat-free! 🐱✨

✨Transformation Tuesday✨

Not all transformations are about looks! This sweet boy usually struggles with separation anxiety from mom and sometimes even needs meds to help him cope 💔. He even bit his dad when mom was away and can be a bit feisty at the vet’s office 😢

When he first came to stay with us, he wasn’t so sure about trusting us—but with patience, kindness, and a little Cat Nap Cottage magic, he relaxed and didn’t need his stress meds at all. 🐾💛

At My Cat Nap Cottage, we specialize in giving even the “spicy” cats a chance to feel safe and understood (unless they just don’t want to 😅). That’s ok too! Kitty gets what kitty wants!

Did you know the average cat sleeps 12–16 hours a day? That’s nearly 70% of their lives spent snoozing! 🐾 No wonder they’re called cat naps!

👻🎃 October started off with a bang here at My Cat Nap Cottage! Yesterday we said goodbye to 7 kitties after their purrfect vacations with us — which meant LOTS of cleaning 🧹🐾.

But you know we love spooky season, so we had some fun too! 🦇 We designed a Halloween-themed logo for the month and put together this American Horror Story–inspired reel featuring some of our feline guests… with Antonio making a cameo as “creepy guy”. 😼💀😅

Turn up the sound, and get ready for some spooky-meets-cute vibes! 🖤

My Cat Nap Cottage which was previously known as ‘The Cat Cottage’ has been serving the community proudly since 2008. Everything you have known and loved about The Cat Cottage has not changed with My Cat Nap Cottage. We are an exclusive cats only boarding facility and reservations are by appointment only.

Boarding is all-inclusive in regards of your pet’s care. You will not have to bring anything extra for your cat unless they have some special needs such as: administering medications, special diets, etc…)

My Cat Nap Cottage is a Veterinary approved facility. We have a clean, home-like, friendly environment for your cat(s).

We have been cat lovers and owners for decades. We have assisted in fostering at local animal rescues and also have 4 cats of our own, which are all rescues.
