Alpha 2 Omega Acres, LLC

A2O would like to help support your horses health through the use of Neuromuscular Based Horse Dentistry, Bach Flower Remedies & Essential Oils. Neuromuscular Horse Dentistry is designed to provide proper biomechanics & neuromuscular function through the TMJ to the whole body. Proper balancing supports your horses body mass & performance through correct occlusal contact &

bite alignment. With the less is more philosophy, addressing only what each individual horse needs in the moment to allow full range of motion and function of the jaw. I only use specially designed hand instruments, designed for the horse, NEVER POWER TOOLS. Address the incisors first to help set the horse up for success and then balance the molar tables to maintain correct angle and occlusal contact for the individual horse. I use patients and horsemanship to work with the horse, giving them small breaks in between working on the teeth to allow them time to process what we are doing. Horses should be seen for dental evaluations every 6 months to 1 year depending on their age and their individual needs. Bach Flower Remedies can help balance emotional health and help to create a harmonious relationship to dentistry. Essential Oils can promote many different aspects of care from relaxation before dentistry to immune support for every day. Balance, I believe is a team effort between all the various modalities of equine care...You-Veterinarian-Dental Specialist-Nutritionist-Ferrier-Chiropractor & everyone in between. This team approach will bring out the best your horse has to offer.

We have some amazing young people coming through the program designed to do right by the horse, not just make our job easy. The use of hand tools and focus on the proper dental alignment for each horse as an individual to allow proper range of motion and suppleness to the TMJ and promote proper neuromuscular function through the whole body which then allows for proper proprioception for the horse in movement..

In equine practice, teeth corrections by means of motorized grinding systems are standard procedure. The heat resulting from that treatment may cause irreparable damage to the dental pulp. It has been shown that a 5.5°C temperature rise may cause severe destruction in pulp cells. Hence, the capability to continuously form secondary dentine is lost, and may lead, due to equine-typical occlusal tooth abrasion, to an opening of the pulp cavity.!!!

The heat from power tools used in equine dentistry, needs to be more spoken about and the fact it will definitely contribute to cavities in horses, the teeth being more prone to fractures and early periodontal disease…..
