Meet Ciunas!
Ciunas is an Irish word meaning "calm, silent, or still." Which, we'll admit, is a good description of Ciunas. Sometimes. Other times he's chasing tennis balls and acting like no one has ever told him that he's technically a senior, wiggly his little nub of a tail as fast as possible as he tries to climb into your lap and have you scratch all those itchy spots he can't reach, and using his biggest bark to tell you exactly how you've offended him and what you can do to make it right. There's no denying that he's a strange little dog - shaped like a particularly fat sausage with the littlest legs that can move at remarkable speeds and filled with an opinionated, feisty, and at the same time extremely sweet personality. Ciunas can be a little shy at first and he appreciates when people take things slow and go at his pace, so he'd prefer not having to live or interact with children in the home. That said, he has lived with dogs before with no concerns at all. He's a chunky little man and is on a weight loss journey in order to improve his overall quality of life and joint health - he came in weighing 27 pounds with an estimated ideal weight of only 15.

Ciunas is in our special adoption program which sets adopters and their new pets up for success with pre and post adoption counseling. He would do best in an adult-only home with adopters who are savvy with dog body language and are ready to take things slow, earn his trust, and teach him how to make good life decisions (for example, it's not kind to growl at the vet, Ciunas.) So, if you like spicy little sausage dogs with big personalities and plenty of love to give, please complete an adopter's profile at parl.org and email Claire at [email protected] to learn more and schedule a meet and greet.

Today, we're celebrating the cats who fill our shelter with tiny toe beans, big personalities, and plenty of meows for National Cat Day. But while they're waiting for their new homes, they need a little extra love from our community.

This National Cat Day, you can make a difference in cats lives like lil' Nor'easter! She came in as a stray found in the cold and needed emergency care from our Vet team and now a month later is thriving in foster care. All of this is because of you and your generosity.

Every donation, big or small, helps us care for the cats counting on us daily.

Celebrate National Cat Day by donating today! Every dollar makes a difference for the animals at Providence Animal Rescue League.

Meet Domino!
Domino is a handsome boy but he's speckled, spotted, and not one for people who have trypophobia. He's friendly, sweet, and a smart pup who loves his family and is always ready to sit politely for a treat. Domino has previously done well living with other dogs, cats, and children. He is house trained and generally a well-behaved boy in all regards.

Domino does have a history of some skin irritation and allergies, he's currently on a hypoallergenic diet to help prevent any future flare ups.

Meet Sasha!
Sasha is more than a pretty face, she's got a whole special personality and she's just waiting to be loved. Sasha came to us due to her previous family experiencing housing issues. She's a sweet and well-behaved dog and always knows how to make a house a home and a family complete. Sasha would do best in a teens+ family, she has limited experience with new dogs and no experience with cats. She is house trained, used to being alone for several hours at a time, and loves a good car ride and adventure out into the world with her people. Sasha previously has had severe ear infections, she's received treatment while here with us but she should be monitored for any further issues in the future and receive routine vet care to make sure that her ears stay healthy and clean.

Meet Maizey!

Maizey is the sweetest little grandma you could ever hope to meet! At 8 years old, this one-of-a-kind girl has a gentle, loving way about her that is sure to make any cat person fall head over heels.

Maizey enjoys the finer things in life: lounging comfortably in her bed, taking it easy, and enjoying her special prescription food. She has a history of an upset tummy, so keeping her on her prescribed diet is an important part of helping her feel her best.

And of course, we can’t forget her adorable old-lady meow! Maizey has the cutest little voice and isn’t afraid to use it to tell you what’s on her mind.

Maizey has also had a history of inappropriate litter box habits. However, we're happy to report that she has been using her litter box normally during her time at PARL. Her future family should be prepared to continue paying attention to her litter box habits and keeping her environment comfortable and consistent.

There’s just something special about Maizey. She’s a loving, cozy, charming little grandma who deserves a home where she can relax, be adored, and enjoy her days at her own pace.

If you’re a cat person looking for a truly special companion, Maizey may be the grandma you never knew you needed. Come meet her and prepare to fall in love!

If you’re interested in adopting, please fill out an adopter profile at www.parl.org/adopt and stop by during our open hours!
