Meet Pumpkin's little family of all ladies. They were born 10/8/25. All females! All tortishells of varying color. They will be 9 weeks old tomorrow (Wednesday).

They have had their first distemper vaccine, dewormed and microchipped. Pumpkin (mom) tested negative for feline leukemia/fiv.

They have been raised with dogs, other cats and love people. They are little bundles of excitement! They use the litterbox (regular and robotic one).

If you would like to adopt one, please fill out an application online at newkenthumane.org. Their name is under their picture. If you have a favorite one you'd like to meet, please include her name on your application. This will help to get the ball rolling on approvals. Adoption fee is $75 per kitten.

Barbara, our senior tabby, is still looking for a foster home or a permanent home. If you know of any senior citizens in need of companionship, please think of Barbara. We are implementing our Seniors for Seniors (Senior Pets/Senior Citizens) Program soon and Barbara would be a perfect first candidate. She deserves long term, loving care and stability in her senior years.

This is so, so amazing! Thank you to Family Dog Training Services, LLC for taking a chance on a dog like Jimmy, who was untrained, had failed out of 3 homes, and was difficult for the volunteers to handle at adoption events. You’ve made all the difference for his future! Also, a huge thank you to our supporters, it was because of your donations that we were able to treat Jimmy for heartworms, which was the first huge hurdle to overcome in his journey to adoption. ❤️❤️

Boxer-Doodles - available for adoption at shelter. (Mom is a white Boxer, dad is a poodle, dad not available)

Pictured: 2 older, male, puppies, Cocoa and Panda, very sweet boys, both surrendered, now at the NK shelter. They have puppy vaccines, need their rabies vaccine. They weigh about 35 lbs, about 4-5 months old, will grow larger.

$25 adoption fee, must complete the adoption application and have valid ID, in person, at shelter. Also must sign sterilization agreement, have them neutered within 3 months, and return proof.

The Sgt working today says he will meet to do the adoptions, if he is not busy on calls. Call him at 804-966-9500 to meet and arrange a time.

🚨📰 The latest news! 📰🚨 Welcome Nala! 🎉

We have a new foster dog, meet Nala, the sweetest little pittie. She’s 1 year, 8 months old, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, hw negative, and just adorable!! 🥰

She was adopted from the NK shelter 8 months ago. The adopter cannot have her any longer, please don’t judge, people go through things we can never understand.

💕💕Anyway, think positive and let’s try to find her a great new home. The adopter’s awesome friends have stepped up and are fostering her, so she didn’t have to stay back in the shelter for more than a day.

She’s currently being treated for some minor skin issues, we hear these are very common with blue pit bulls. So if you are looking for a new best friend, please complete the adoption application online at our website newkenthumane.org to be considered.

I don’t think we know how she is with small children, but she is jumpy and energetic. She likes dogs and cats. She’s crate and house trained.
