CH-EQ La Zingara

“Gypsy” as she was fondly known occupied the very first stall on the show side of Zubrod Stables for many years. She knickered to passersby and often ended up with more than her fair share of treats. In her latest years, she squealed if another horse walked by – becoming territorial of her personal space.

She was born to a Palomino mare named Vanity’s Pennies from Heaven, sired by the The Magic Commander, the small foal was destined for greatness. After having a successful career with her breeder, Dawn Striegel in Adult Pleasure and then in Pleasure Equitation with Kaelynn Lesniak, Gypsy first arrived to Zubrod Stables in 2012 to be Kaitlin Kelly’s senior equitation horse. They were winning in their debut in the Pleasure Equitation class at River Ridge – and continued their winning ways throughout the year. In her final junior exhibitor year, they were Reserve National Champions in the UPHA Pleasure Challenge Cup Finals, before competing in the Adult Equitation division, winning the UPHA Adult Challenge Cup National Championship in 2014.

Later in 2014, barnmate and friend, Kaeley Arterburn’s family purchased Gypsy. They earned top ribbons together in their first year of competition and in 2015 they were crowned 16-year-old Equitation World’s Champions, soon after earning the title of Triple Crown winners in Pleasure Equitation after taking first place in all three of their national finals together. They took on trimmed equitation the following year winning at Rock Creek, Lexington Jr. League, the WCHS, and finished top 10 in all their national finals – including third in the UPHA Senior Challenge Cup National Finals. Their story book ending continued when Kaeley won the USEF Adult Medal Finals with her in 2020 as well…(continued in comments)

☕️ 🍩 With the tournament rescheduled, we’ve decided to host a last minute coffee & donuts day at the barn this Saturday! Hope everyone can make it - watch show riders in their winter prep with their horses and enjoy company with friends!

👔 If you have any old academy clothes / this would be the perfect time to bring them in!!

🐴 Emily Rhoads will be teaching lessons now also, so please contact her if you would like to try and get a makeup in while the weather is nice! ☀️🥰
