Starting your puppy with grooming early—around 12 weeks old—sets them up for a lifetime of success 🐾

At this age, everything is new, and that’s exactly why it’s the perfect time to introduce them to the sights, sounds, and sensations of grooming. From the hum of clippers to nail trims and baths, early exposure helps build confidence and reduces fear down the road.

It’s also important to remember that not every puppy is ready for a full haircut right away—and that’s okay! A puppy’s first visit is often more about the experience than the end result. Puppy intro appointments are a great way to ease them in, helping them get used to the sounds, being handled, brushed/combed out, and having those important areas (face, feet, and sanitary) tidied up.

Puppies who start young are more likely to:
✨ Feel comfortable during appointments
✨ Handle grooming without stress or anxiety
✨ Build trust with their groomer
✨ Maintain healthier skin and coats

Our team spends every day caring for your pups and kitties like they’re their own, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible people who make River Valley such a special place for pets.

We’ll be celebrating our amazing staff in a couple of weeks with our River Valley Boarding Week— because they truly deserve it! Keep an eye out for some fun new additions to the RVGB lobby for that week, and feel free to give our team members a little extra appreciation!

❗️Help Wanted: Part-time Pet Care Provider or Boarding Coordinator

Pet Care Provider role basics:
🐾Cat and dog animal care
🐾Dog play group management
🐾Cleaning

Boarding Coordinator role basics:
🐾All Pet Care Provider tasks
🐾Manage boarding, daycare, and grooming reservations
🐾Client communication
🐾Record management & more!

This new team member must:
🐾LOVE dogs and cats
🐾Have a strong work ethic & lots of patience
🐾Be dependable and detail oriented

We offer great benefits and a fun working atmosphere.
Starting rate is between $14-$17/hour depending on role and experience. Pay Rate for Saturday evenings, Sundays, and holidays is at time-and-a-half.
We have a current need for either a 10-hour weekday shift (8 am-6 pm) or two 6-hour weekday shifts (6:30 am - 1 PM or 1 PM - 7 PM) plus rotating weekends. More hours could be available as needs allow.

We do a terrific job taking care of pets while their family members are out of town or on vacation. We need someone with this same type of commitment, someone dedicated to providing a safe, clean loving and fun environment to our canine and feline guests.
