Happy National Pit Bull Awareness Day! 💙

Big personalities, goofy smiles, wiggly bodies, and a whole lot of love! Our pit bull-mix adoptables have so much to offer, and they're ready for their chance to show you.

Every dog deserves to be seen as an individual, beyond their appearance or breed label. Get to know these pups, share their faces, and help us find them the loving homes they've been waiting for!

Happy Halloween from our spooky and not-so-spooky adoptables! 🧡

Some are serving up scares, some are just here for the treats, but they all have one thing in common: they're hoping their next big adventure includes a place to call home.

Have a safe and happy Halloween from all of us at Ruff Start Rescue!

Congratulations to our October Volunteer of the Month, Kersten! 🎉

Kersten joined our Pet Profile Team and quickly went above and beyond, taking on additional responsibilities to make our adoptable animals’ profiles more engaging and help them find homes. She recently took her dedication a step further by driving to Texas to help transport a van full of dogs!

We’re so grateful for Kersten’s initiative, enthusiasm, and willingness to help wherever she’s needed. Thank you for all you do for Ruff Start Rescue and our animals!

Help us keep community cats warm this winter! ❄

Join Ruff Start Rescue on November 5 for our FREE family-friendly Community Cat Shelter Building event! We’ll learn about community cats and TNR while building insulated outdoor shelters to help cats stay warm during Minnesota’s cold weather.

We’re also collecting large plastic totes with lids (ideally 35–40” long and 21–25” wide) to turn into warm shelters at the event. New or gently used totes in good condition are welcome!

Tote donations can be dropped off at the Ruff Start Rescue office Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM.

A little room in your home could mean a whole new beginning for an animal who needs somewhere safe to land. 💙

You don’t have to foster for months to make a difference. Even a short stay can give an animal time to settle in, get the care they need, and take the next step toward a home of their own.

Right now, we need more foster homes for animals coming to Ruff Start Rescue from shelters, owner surrenders, and reservations. Every foster home that opens its doors helps us welcome another animal who needs support. We provide the food, supplies, veterinary care, and guidance. You provide a safe place to land while they wait for what comes next.

Could you make room for one more?
