I took Peanut to the vet for his yearly senior exam, and also to point out this golf ball size growth I noticed on his side. Peanut was an owner surrender in 2022 and was 14. He's been with us for 4 years, and I love him dearly. When we first got him, he hated being picked up. Now, he jumps in my arms and loves being cuddled. Amazing what time can do.

I was surprised that his bloodwork came back indicating beginning stage kidney failure. He's now on a prescription renal diet, and Azodyl to help him along. I'm not ready to lose this southern gentleman. I told him that no matter what, he was going to be around to see 20. His first mom sends us a package to share with all of his friends here every year on his birthday. All of the dogs here just love celebrating Peanuts birthday! Wouldn't it be nice if other owner surrenders were this thoughtful?

Let's welcome Oscar. He's an 8 year old schnauzer looking for a new home. Approximately 15 - 18 pounds. Owner surrender. I had a difficult time getting a good picture because of those schnauzer eye brows! Other than mild allergies, he's a healthy boy. Still getting to know this guy, but he seems depressed and incredibly shy. I don't see many schnauzers in rescue. Please share.

I took our Daisy for a dental today Cumberland Animal Hospital, and her snaggle toofers are gone. I'm sad, but I know she'll feel so much better (and probably live longer) without all that decay in her mouth. She had 13 extractions, and the tech said Daisy was a very good girl. Cost was right over $800. Please help if you can.

UPDATE - With the most reactions, her name is Fairy! Sandra Wallace thank you for the suggestion.

Please help name this little nugget. She's a friendly little girl who justs wants to be loved. Her intake appointment is next week. She's clearly too thin, and has been bred in the past. She was found on the side of the road, tied inside a pillowcase. Thank God she wasn't hit by a car. A huge thank you to the person who stopped and was brave enough to open the pillowcase to find out what was inside of it. You undoubtedly saved her life.

So this little guy did well for his surgery. No surprise that Kai lost most of his tail. It was severed in several places. I told him it's ok - he now has a cute little nublet and the pain is gone. A heartfelt thank you to those who donated towards this surgery. A second THANK YOU to Anne who made up the difference to get everything 100% paid for with donations. Our followers are the best!

My precious Diesel. Although you were only with us for a little over one month, you touched my very soul. So many things going on in your fragile little emaciated body, yet you never complained. Your tail wagged whenever you saw me, and you tried your very best to sit because you knew it made me happy. Although it hurt me deeply, letting you go was the right thing to do. If I close my eyes, I can see you in a healthy body running through the fields of heaven chasing the squirrels. Run free, my little man. I'll miss you.

This has got to be the saddest injury I've ever seen. He wags his little tail, then yelps because it hurts. He is having surgery tomorrow to dock his tail and to be neutered. Please help if you can.

😭😭😭 Cancer. Everywhere. A tumor so large we can't see the other organs. Our vet suggested humanely euthanizing Diesel today, but I'm not ready. He's lost more weight, but he is still a happy dog. He doesn't appear to be in pain. This week I am going to spoil him like never before. He loves car rides. Sticks his head out of the window letting the wind hit his face. Tomorrow we will go on an adventure exploring all the country roads around us that Virginia has to offer. A picnic lunch. To anyone who wants to stop in to see this precious boy one last time, our doors are open.

We need a name for this little guy. He arrived last night clearly needing surgery. I'm keeping him drugged until Monday. He's extremely matted especially around his rear, and his tail is almost completely severed in several places. I even wonder if the matts are the only thing holding the tail in place. He's understandably scared and in pain. He also has a mass (lipoma) on his shoulder and broken teeth. God only knows what this baby has been through and for how long. A huge thank you to Jaime, for transporting him from Baltimore to Miko's Sanctuary.
