🐾 The Little Kitten Who Changed Everything: How I Discovered the Food That Saved Her Life
After more than three decades of breeding, I’ve seen just about everything a cat can throw at you — the joys, the surprises, the heartbreaks, and the miracles. But every now and then, a single kitten comes along who changes the way you see everything. For me, that kitten arrived nearly 18 years ago.
She was a Lilac Lynx Point Siamese, the tiniest of four, a little scrap of fur with a golden personality and a fighting spirit that far outshined her size. She was the runt, but she was determined. The problem was… her body wasn’t keeping up with her will to live.
From the moment she started weaning, something was wrong. We supplemented her with goat’s milk. We tried Royal Canin kitten. We tried other brands. We tried home cooked chicken and rice. No matter what we fed her, it went straight through her. Runny diarrhea. Constant. Uncontrollable. Heartbreaking.
I rushed her to Dr. Evans, who ran every f***l test imaginable. Parasites? Negative. Infection? Negative. We tried antidiarrheals, supplements, supportive care — nothing made a dent. For two months, this tiny girl struggled. She was stunted, underweight, and so fragile that no one dared pick her up without wrapping her in a towel. We loved her, but we were exhausted, worried, and running out of answers.
So I did what breeders do when the world gives them a problem no one else can solve: I started researching. I compared every food label I could get my hands on. And I noticed a pattern — by products, grains, fillers, ingredients that had no business being in the bowl of a kitten whose body was already fighting so hard.
Then a fellow breeder mentioned a food she had recently discovered — Life’s Abundance. At that point, I had nothing left to lose. I ordered it immediately.
Two days later, the bag arrived. That evening, I poured a small amount into her bowl, gave her fresh water, and closed the door behind me. I didn’t sleep well that night. I was afraid to hope.
The next morning, I opened her door… and there it was.
A solid stool.
I never thought I’d be so thrilled to see healthy p**p in a litter pan, but in that moment, it felt like a miracle. After weeks of fear and frustration, this tiny kitten finally had relief. And from that day forward, she thrived.
I called Dr. Evans immediately, practically shouting the news. It wasn’t parasites. It wasn’t illness. It wasn’t her size or her genetics.
It was the food.
That little kitten — the one who fought so hard to stay here — is the reason I’ve trusted Life’s Abundance ever since. She taught me that nutrition isn’t just about feeding a cat. It’s about understanding their biology, their sensitivities, and their individual needs. She taught me that the right food can change everything.
And she reminded me why, after all these years, I still love what I do.
🐾 Why I Feed a Variety of Foods — And Why My Recommendations Come From Experience, Not Profit
That little Lilac Lynx Point kitten wasn’t the only reason I changed the way I feed my cats, but she was the beginning of a much bigger shift. Over the years, through trial, error, and a whole lot of observation, I’ve learned that no single food — not even the best one — can meet every need for every cat in every stage of life.
Yes, Life’s Abundance became my main staple many years ago because it proved itself when nothing else did. But it’s not the only thing my cats eat. Not even close.
My cats enjoy a rich, balanced rotation of foods, including:
• Life’s Abundance
• Tiki Cat
• Royal Canin
• Birdie Louie
• Fancy Feast
• Raw diets
• Minced boiled chicken with lightly salted mineral broth
• Fresh broiled salmon
And for my queens and their kittens, I go even further. They receive:
• Goat’s milk
• Extra taurine
• A sprinkle of NuVet Plus
These additions help support strong immune systems, healthy development, and overall vitality — especially during pregnancy, nursing, and early growth.
I believe in feeding variety because cats, like people, benefit from diverse nutrients and textures. It keeps them healthy, engaged, and thriving.
But I want to make something absolutely clear.
When I recommend in my contract that you keep your kitten on Life’s Abundance or NuVet Plus, it is not because I’m trying to get rich off cat food or supplements. If that were my goal, I would have chosen a very different career path. Breeding is a labor of love, not a shortcut to wealth.
I recommend these products because:
• I use them myself
• I’ve seen the results firsthand
• They’ve helped my cats and kittens consistently
• They work
Yes, I am a representative for the company — but I am not an enforcer. I don’t police what you feed your cat. I don’t judge your choices. And I certainly don’t pressure anyone into buying anything.
Ultimately, you decide what is best for your cat.
My role is simply to share what decades of hands on experience have taught me. I’m a messenger, not a salesperson. And I would never recommend a product I wouldn’t confidently feed to my own cats.
At the end of the day, my goal is the same as yours: happy, healthy cats who thrive in their forever homes.
Thank you for taking your time to read another one of my stories.
